It’s true…I don’t know myself…lol 😅

You ever had those days, times, moments where you weren’t quite yourself? Well, throughout the day, that happens to me. I have Disassociate Identity Disorder, which means my personality changes from time to time. As part of Men’s Mental Health Month, I wanted to share that.

The point though, is that it isn’t just my battle, or just Men’s. Everyone that fights this needs recognition, and to know they are not alone. Keep fighting, never give up, and Keep Rockin, Peeps!

... Read moreDissociative Identity Disorder (DID) often brings about contention and misunderstanding, largely because it remains one of the most misrepresented mental health conditions. Those experiencing DID navigate shifting identities, leading to moments where they may feel lost or not entirely themselves. It’s crucial to understand that this disorder is a response to trauma, and individuals are coping with profound emotional pain. During Men's Mental Health Month, the emphasis on acknowledging mental health struggles becomes especially essential. Men are often less likely to openly discuss their feelings and challenges due to societal pressure, perpetuating the stigma surrounding mental health issues. The importance of community support is paramount for those battling DID and other mental health conditions. Sharing experiences can foster connections and provide comfort, signifying to affected individuals that they are not alone in their struggles. By normalizing conversations about mental health, we can dismantle the barriers that prevent individuals from seeking help. Resources like support groups, therapy, and mental health hotlines are invaluable for anyone grappling with their mental health. Engaging in discussions, whether online through social media or in-person at community events, helps cultivate understanding and empathy. Additionally, incorporating self-care routines can significantly benefit individuals with DID. Techniques like mindfulness, journaling, or engaging in hobbies can anchor those experiencing identity shifts, reinforcing a sense of self in turbulent times. As we advocate for mental health awareness, remember that it’s okay not to be okay, and fighting for one’s mental health is a powerful act of self-compassion. Let's work together to build a supportive environment where everyone feels safe to share their truths and receive the help they need.

Can I be honest about something? The question isn’t really “how do I find the balance.” It’s “why do I feel so guilty every time I try to take a minute for myself?” Most moms have pockets of time. It’s the guilt that makes them unusable. You scroll through them instead of resting in them.
