HOW MY ARTSTYLE HAS EVOLVED!

Watching my own growth over the years and my life has always been terrifying and amazing for me! I always need a reminder that I have gotten better. Much much better than I used to be as well.

We all grow in our respective skills differently and at our own paces! N sometimes we need reminders we came from a far more noobish than we are today. Even if your journey in art and hobbies was yesterday you’ve still grown since then!

N if you’re hesitant on trying art? Just go for it! You won’t be amazing at first(unless ur that lucky bastard whose figured out art instantly) but you will eventually! That’s what makes art a skill it’s something we learn overtime! N train in our minds and bodies alike!

It's a constant reminder that art, much like life, is about continuous growth and learning. We all start somewhere, often feeling a bit 'noobish,' but with every sketch and brushstroke, we refine our skills and discover new facets of our artistic voice. For those of you curious about how an art style truly evolves, let me share some of my personal insights and strategies. From those first attempts at drawing digitally in middle school, through key periods like Grade 8, Grade 9, and the significant shifts seen in 2019, 2021, 2022, and up to the end of 2023 and the past 6 months, every stage was a building block. One of the biggest lessons I learned is the importance of embracing experimentation. Don't be afraid to try new things! Perhaps you're comfortable with one medium, but what happens if you switch to another? When I was working on pieces like "BROM Vildc Grovewalker" or "EZEKIEL "BLUNT-KNIFE" BUCHANAN," I was consciously pushing boundaries, trying different rendering techniques or character expressions. This wasn't always easy; sometimes the results weren't what I hoped for, but every 'failed' experiment was a step forward, revealing what worked and what didn't for my personal vision. Consistent practice is non-negotiable. It's not about drawing for hours every single day, but about making art a regular part of your routine. Even short, focused sessions can add up. Think of it like training a muscle; the more you use it, the stronger it gets. I've found that even during busy periods, a quick sketch or a digital doodle helps keep the creative flow going. Another crucial aspect is analysis and self-critique. After finishing a piece, take a step back. What do you like about it? What could be improved? Looking at my work from 2019 versus 2021, I can see a clearer understanding of anatomy and lighting emerge. This wasn't by accident; it was from actively identifying weaknesses and focusing on improving them in subsequent pieces. Don't be too harsh on yourself, but be honest. Comparing your current work to what you did in Grade 8 can be incredibly motivating, showing just how far you've come. Lastly, seek inspiration broadly but maintain your unique voice. Look at other artists, study different art forms, even observe the world around you. But always filter it through your own perspective. The goal isn't to perfectly replicate someone else's style, but to absorb influences and integrate them into something that is uniquely yours. Your journey is your own, and the evolution of your art style is a testament to your dedication and passion. So, keep creating, keep learning, and trust the process!
