นอกจากการวางแผนปลูกอ้อยแบบข้อตาตามระบบผู้จัดการมันแล้ว สิ่งสำคัญที่ผมได้เรียนรู้จากการปฏิบัติจริงคือการใส่ใจเรื่องระยะปลูกที่เหมาะสม เช่น การปลูก 1 ข้อตา 2 ท่อน ระยะห่างระหว่างต้น 50 ซม. และร่องปลูก 150-160 ซม. ช่วยให้อ้อยได้รับแสงและสารอาหารเต็มที่ นอกจากนี้การใช้มือถือวัดลำอ้อยอย่างสม่ำเสมอก็ช่วยให้ติดตามการเจริญเติบโตได้ชัดเจน พบว่าลำอ้อยที่โตเร็วมีขนาดเส้นผ่านศูนย์กลางถึง 6.06 ซม. หลังจากฉีดพ่นสารอาหารทางใบตามระบบครบถ้วนตั้งแต่อายุ 1 เดือนจนถึง 5 เดือน ช่วงหน้าฝน ผมแนะนำให้ลอกกาบใบตอนอ้อยมีอายุ 4 เดือน เพื่อป้องกันโรคและช่วยให้แสงแดดเข้าถึงลำอ้อยได้ดีขึ้น พร้อมกับฉีดพ่นสารย่อยสลายใบตามระบบด้วย เพื่อให้ใบเก่าที่แห้งร่วงหลุดอย่างรวดเร็วและไม่เป็นแหล่งสะสมเชื้อโรค อีกเรื่องหนึ่งที่ได้สุขใจก็คือความหนาแน่นของอ้อยที่ได้รับจากการปลูกแบบนี้ โดยเฉพาะเมื่อใช้ระบบผู้จัดการมัน พบว่าสามารถสร้างความเข้มแข็งให้กับกออ้อยแต่ละต้น "ทำน้อยได้มาก" จริงๆ ถือเป็นกุญแจสำคัญที่ทำให้ไร่อ้อยของเราไม่เพียงโตเร็วและสมบูรณ์เท่านั้น แต่ยังช่วยลดต้นทุนเพราะไม่จำเป็นต้องซื้อพันธุ์อ้อยเพิ่ม ระบบผู้จัดการมันยังใช้ได้กับอ้อยทุกพันธุ์ ทั้งอ้อยตอและอ้อยปลูกใหม่ โดยการเลือกพันธุ์ที่เหมาะสมกับพื้นที่ปลูกและการดูแลอย่างต่อเนื่องจะทำให้ได้ผลผลิตที่ดีและลดปัญหาโรคภัยไข้เจ็บอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ สุดท้ายผมขอเป็นกำลังใจให้พี่น้องชาวไร่อ้อยทุกคนที่ตั้งใจดูแลอ้อยของตัวเองด้วยความใส่ใจและความพยายามอย่างต่อเนื่อง รับรองว่าผลลัพธ์ที่ดีจะไม่น้อยหน้ากันแน่นอน!
