Shopping in Jakarta
Had a 4D3N staycation in Jakarta & here's the places that I check out on shopping.
The premium outlet opened in 2025 & there's many international brands.
2) Thamrin City
This is truely the world of batik & endless shops selling local fabric wear. Prices are really very affordable. A long batik dress is at Rp35000.
3) Grand Indonesia
This is like the anchor mall in Jakarta & a short walk from where I stay at Park Royal. There's Central inside the mall & at the time I was visiting, they had sale! Able to get Columbia shoes & tshirt. 2 items at Rp1,600,000. I love Columbia trekking shoes! There's tax refund counter at Central too.
4) Blok M Square
Took a mrt to Blok M Square. See Explore Jakarta MRT. Here's it's like 'Lucky Plaza' feel. If you need cheap optical, this looks like the place as there's many optical shops. However it's difficult to communicate with the local sellers so if you need to get prescription glasses, I guess it's abit difficult. There's also a vibrant food street at the entrance of the mall. 100% local vibes!
5) Plaza Blok M
This Plaza is also connected to the mrt & just at the opposite side of Blok M Square. It's more sophisticated vs Blok M Square & if you love branded watches, there's several pre-owned watch shops.
6) Grab/Gojek
Bought kueh lapis/cookies through the platforms as the ones at Grand Indonesia were too expensive. 3 boxes of kueh lapis at Rp325,000, nicely packed as I left a note stating to kindly ensure that the cakes are packed properly as I'm bringingthem on plane. With that I'm all ready to end the shopping.
