rating new Jap SWEET POTATO breads⁉️

SAVE & SHARE this full review! 😱 2 NEW sweet potato breads from one of my favourite Japanese bakeries in SG! 💯

💜 Sweet Potato Naruto Kintoki Pan スイートポテトパン 鳴門金時 ($3.20)

generously stuffed with sweet potato filling made with Naruto Kintoki sweet potatoes from Japan! loved its prominent natural chestnut-like sweet potato sweetness, and appreciated how it was filled all the way to the sides! encased in a soft and fluffy bread

💛 Mochi Mochi Butter Sweet Potato Pan もちもちバタ一さつまいもパン ($3)

filled with small Beni-Azuma sweet potato cubes that had natural sweet potato sweetness! but sweet potato cubes were pretty small and bread was thick, so sweet potato flavour was pretty mild! encased in a mochi-like chewy and fluffy bread, with a noticeable savory butteriness but would've preferred more

... Read moreIf you're a fan of unique Japanese bakery treats, Gokoku’s latest sweet potato breads are a must-try. Beyond just the sweet flavors, I found the texture differences fascinating—the Naruto Kintoki Pan had a soft, fluffy bread filled generously with natural sweet potato filling, giving it a prominent chestnut-like flavor. It felt like biting into a comforting little cloud with a burst of rich sweetness. On the other hand, the Mochi Mochi Butter Sweet Potato Pan surprised me with its chewy, mochi-like bread texture paired with savory butteriness. The small Beni-Azuma sweet potato cubes were subtly sweet but seemed a bit overshadowed by the thick bread layer, which made the overall sweetness milder than expected. For those who enjoy layered textures, this bread offers a nice contrast between chewy and buttery notes. What I appreciate most is the use of authentic Japanese sweet potato varieties like Naruto Kintoki and Beni-Azuma, which provide natural sweetness without being overly sugary. Also, Gokoku has multiple convenient outlets across Singapore, including Wisma Atria, Bukit Panjang Plaza, and VivoCity, ensuring easy access for sweet potato bread enthusiasts. If you want to explore further, try pairing these breads with a hot cup of green tea or coffee to balance the sweetness. I personally think that a slight increase in the buttery flavor in the Mochi Mochi Butter Pan would make it even more delightful—something to watch out for in future batches. Overall, these breads highlight the charm of Japanese bakery craftsmanship and are worth adding to your foodie list!

Instead of Lavender Bakery, visit Moonlight Bakery when you go to JB on your next trip !! I'm not a fan of Lavender breads because the breads are so small and not worth the price! 👍Why I like it: I really prefer Moonlight breads because they're much healthier, have nutty breads, more va

You’ve probably seen this salt bread all over your FYP and yes, we had to check it out if it’s worth the hype since we planned for a day trip to JB (last weekend, which was super hectic at the customs)👀 Honest thoughts: 🥖 Bread texture was pretty decent, though we didn’t get to try the plain on

Japan Popz Restos: Were They Worth The QUEUE?
Japan’s great but the downside is the over-tourism and since we were travelling as a family of 10, it was really tough to pre book all our meals so we followed some recommendations that allows us to walk in. Of course we wanted to try highly raved restaurants and see if it’s really worth the hype!
