Do Etsy And Just Understand... The Price Is Not Just Cheap And Will Sell Well
We talked to an experienced elder in Etsy and got a "pricing" perspective that made us think a lot.
At first we had the idea that
If the price is cheaper than others, it will be easier to sell.
Especially digital works such as PNG stickers / planner stickers / GoodNotes stickers.
But when you do, you start to feel...
Too cheap = too tired
Some jobs have 40 PNG. We sell about $3.99.
Some 56 PNG jobs used to charge so low that they felt, "Why isn't it worth it?"
And he said a sentence that made us think a lot
"The rich are rich because they despise their work less than the poor."
Doesn't mean having to sell expensive
But that means we should also set a price that respects self-interest.
What has been learned from pricing in Etsy
1. The cheapest. Doesn't mean the best seller.
Many people think that if the price is reduced, the market will choose us.
But the truth is, if we lower it, the last loser may be us.
Because we'll start to feel
A lot of work, but the income is not worth it.
Make multiple files, multiple images, multiple listings, but profit per piece is very small.
Finally, may be exhausted before the store grows.
2. Price is the image of the store too.
If the price is too cheap, some customers may see our work as "ordinary," when we actually do a lot.
Digital work costs the same.
Cost includes not just files, but time, ideas, design, file alignment, preview photos, product descriptions, and making it easy for customers to use.
3.Etsy. The first period may push a lot of views, but still do not need to sell a lot immediately.
He explained that Etsy might have tried to push our shop in many categories at first.
Therefore, the view peak may be unusually high, but the click or purchase peak is not yet high.
Like we put a doughnut in front of the mall entrance.
More people walk by. More people see our store.
But not everyone who walks by will buy it immediately.
So a lot of views doesn't mean bad products.
But maybe it's when Etsy is testing what kind of customer group we fit.
4. Do not hurry to reduce the price because you are afraid that you cannot sell.
If the product is new, the store is new, and Etsy is still on trial.
A rush to cut prices hard could upset our store standards too soon.
What should be done more is
Adjust the cover image to make it easier to click.
Adjust the keyword to the group
Category clearly
Complete the collection
And set the price to be worth the number of files + job quality.
The price guidelines we will use from now on.
For the PNG sticker work in Etsy, we won't set the price so low that it doesn't feel worth it anymore.
Personal concept example:
40 PNG → About $3.99- $5.99
56-60 PNG → About $5.99- $7.99
Bundle Multiple Sets → Gradually Set Higher by File Number and Value
Not all stores have to follow this.
But for us, the price should be at the point where the customer receives it, and the worker still feels it's worth it.
Today's lesson summary
Pricing in Etsy isn't just "cheap or expensive."
But it is to set the standard for the store itself.
Can sell cheap
Can do promotion
But it shouldn't be so cheap that we feel that the work itself is worthless.
Because if we want to continue this store for a long time,
The price must make both customers and people work.
So now we will focus on
Make more products
Make the quality clearer
Make the shop look more reliable.
And set a price without hurting yourself
Etsy is really a long-term game.
It can be exhausting at first, but if the store gets caught up, the results can change lives.
