CT what’s up with this shade selection??!??!
Shade 1C is supposed to be for cool fair skin, but it turns out super red like an apple. Is this even a normal skin tone? Has anyone at CT seen what a healthy cool fair complexion actually looks like?
The shade is so weird, there’s such a harsh line against my natural skin. I wiped off my whole makeup look. There’s no way I can leave the house like this.
I’ve experienced similar issues with foundation shades that claim to be for cool fair skin but end up looking surprisingly red or orange on me. It’s frustrating because you expect the product to blend seamlessly, but instead, there’s a noticeable demarcation line that ruins the entire look. When a shade like CT's 1C turns out much redder than expected, it can make your skin appear flushed or unnatural. From my experience, this often happens because cosmetic brands sometimes standardize their shades without fully accounting for the wide range of undertones within the 'cool fair' category. Cool undertones usually have pink, red, or blue hues beneath the skin’s surface, and if the foundation formula has warm or reddish pigments, it ends up looking off. Moreover, lighting conditions and individual skin chemistry also play big roles in how a foundation appears once applied. One trick I’ve found helpful is to test foundation shades in natural daylight rather than store lighting. If a shade looks overly red or orange in natural light, it’s probably not the right match. Additionally, applying a small swatch and blending it extensively can give a clearer idea of whether it truly suits your skin tone. If you’re struggling with a shade that turns out too red like CT’s 1C, it’s worth exploring color-correcting primers or mixing the foundation with a lighter, more neutral base to tone down the redness. Some brands also offer foundation mixers that can adjust the undertone subtly. If the product itself feels too thick or heavy, wiping off and starting fresh with a different formula or brand might be the best option. Ultimately, it’s important for brands like CT to reconsider their shade maps and conduct wider testing to better accommodate real skin tones. The makeup market is diverse, and cool fair skin comes in many variants—ignoring those nuances can lead to disappointed users wiping off whole makeup looks, like many of us have done.
