“The art of washing dishes is that you only have to wash one at a time” - Alan Watts
Similarly, in life, we don’t *actually* need to be 5 steps ahead of ourselves. We CAN just figure it out one step at a time, and TRUST that we will know what to do when we make it to the step after the one we are about to take.
This is a lesson I continue to learn, and learn, and learn. Then I learn it some more.
The dishes will not stop piling up. But that’s ok - because RIGHT NOW I only have to wash the one dish that is nestled in my hands.
It really is that simple. Within that moment you can rest in the presence of eternity. Through that recognition you can defy the laws of time that we have bound ourselves by.
Speaking of time…it’s my birthday tomorrow. Grateful to be here another year, to learn from the grief and the joy of being alive. As much as this world terrifies me, it also fills me with hope. It is one big paradox that I am glad to be part of, if only I can walk alongside others, holding hands while we try to make sense of it all.”
