Sooo I came up with this idea when my husband and I bought a snow cone machine and all the fixings for our baby’s birthday and the snow cone machine was trash. 🙄 And because it was our baby’s birthday and the kind of Super Mommy I am THE show must go on. No questions asked! With my handy dandy quick on my feet thinking skills (queue heroic music 🦸🏾♀️) lol I was like “It’s fine there’s a bag of SONIC ICE in the freezer (one thing I’m gonna have is some Sonic ice lol) I’ll just blend some up and problem solved” Chiiiiilllleeee 🙄 problem NOT solved! The ice almost tore up my blender! It was chunky and clumpy and wasn’t giving shaved ice what so ever. So then back to my thinking chair I go, I’m like where can we go to get the closest thing we can to shaved ice?! The snow cone man aint out today! Then it hit me (ding💡) YOOOO SONIC!!! Duh!!! I go to Sonic ALL the time to get plain bags or cups of ice! I KNOW D*amn well they’ll give me a cup of Slushie ice WITHOUT the flavor! And honeyyyyyyy that’s what I asked for and that’s what they gave me!!!! “And the day was saved thanks to MOMMY” 😂😂😂
Instructions:
Okay So boom, here’s what you do.
Step 1: Once you get back to the crib iight..Open up that cup of Slushie ice and pour out the excess water in the sink. Don’t nobody want a watery frozen drink lol
Step 2: Use your SONIC straw and poke holes in your ice. This way the flavor of the syrup seeps through and goes to the bottom for more flavor.
Step 3: Pour your syrup of choice as much as needed to get your desired taste.
Step 4: Now I shouldn’t have to say this but. STIR IT UP! Lol PLEASE stir it up.
Step 5: Top it with any vanilla ice cream, NERDS, OR
Pro Tip: If you like the cream at your favorite snow cone place. Get a can of evaporated milk and a can of condensed milk and mix them together. Pour on top and BOOM snow cap! “Holla atcha grandma I’m off to the island” in my SUGA Mama Voice 😂😂😂
Now You and your babies go ENJOY na ya hear!!!!❤️❤️❤️
I dead ass ain’t got no “Chill” get it lmaooo okay bye y’all 😬😂🥰✌🏾
... Read moreOkay, so you've got the basic hack down for making those incredible Sonic slushes right at home. But let's dive a little deeper into how you can really elevate your DIY slushie game and explore some more of those amazing flavors everyone loves!
First off, let's talk about syrups – because that's where the magic truly happens! While I absolutely swear by the Hawaiian Shaved Ice syrups (seriously, Hobby Lobby is a goldmine for these, and they're usually around $5.99!), there are so many other options out there. If you're looking for that authentic sour green apple slush sonic taste, that Hawaiian Shaved Ice syrup pictured is spot on. But don't stop there! For strawberry slush sonic vibes, most major grocery stores carry cherry or strawberry syrups. Or, if you're feeling adventurous and want to try making a blueberry slush sonic, look for blue raspberry or blueberry flavored syrups. You can also find great selections on Amazon or at party supply stores. A little tip: always check the ingredients for real fruit juice content if you want a more natural flavor!
Ever wondered what syrup does sonic use for their drinks? While they have their proprietary blends, many fans agree that syrups designed for snow cones or Italian sodas come closest. Experimenting is key! My personal go-to is finding sonic syrup flavors that are concentrated enough to really pop without making your slush watery. Don't be afraid to mix and match!
Now, for those of you who love a good candy slushie, this is where it gets fun. You can easily crush up your favorite hard candies (like Jolly Ranchers) and mix them into your syrup before pouring. Or, if you find candy-flavored syrups, even better! Imagine a cotton candy or watermelon candy slush. Yum!
And what about those signature Sonic drinks like the Sonic Sunrise or Sonic Mermaid? While recreating the exact layers and ingredients might be tricky with just slush ice, you can absolutely capture the essence of their flavors. For a Sonic Sunrise feel, try mixing orange and cherry syrups. For a Sonic Mermaid, think blue raspberry and a hint of vanilla or coconut syrup. It's all about playing with those slushes at sonic flavors to find your perfect blend.
For those keeping an eye on sugar, don't fret! Many brands now offer sonic sugar-free slush syrup options. Brands like Torani or DaVinci Gourmet have a wide range of sugar-free syrups that work wonderfully. Just make sure they are concentrated enough to flavor the ice without diluting it too much.
Finally, let's talk toppings beyond just ice cream. While Vividly Vanilla Ice Cream is a classic, have you ever tried a drizzle of sweetened condensed milk and evaporated milk for that creamy snow cap effect? It's divine! Or, for a little crunch, crushed cookies, gummy bears, or even a sprinkle of pop rocks can add an exciting twist to your shaved ice creation. Each addition turns your simple slush into a gourmet treat. So go ahead, experiment with all these tips and tricks, and enjoy your very own customized Sonic-style slush experience right at home!
What other ice is good if the nearest sonic is further than we want to travel?
