Dark Gothic Romantasy 1pov
So okay pardon me if this is a spoiler but I don't believe it is. Where's the mom? At the beginning of the story she was there but there was absolutely no mention of her at the end of the story? Bring that aside this was a nice short read very fast paced but didn't feel too rushed. That's very fantastical setting and I look forward to reading more from this universe.

As someone who is deeply captivated by the gothic romantasy genre, I found this novella particularly intriguing because it blends dark gothic elements with romantic fantasy in a way that keeps you hooked from the outset. The setting feels richly atmospheric—imagine bone altars and shadowy, mysterious churches framing scenes of intense emotion and haunting beauty. The story’s focus on a strong female main character caught in forced proximity adds tension and depth, making it more than just a typical romance. One aspect that stuck with me was the subtle mystery surrounding the characters, especially when the narrative touches on the absence of a mother figure who initially appears but then vanishes from the storyline. This omission creates an eerie undertone that aligns perfectly with gothic storytelling traditions, inviting readers to speculate while still driving the plot forward. The novella’s length—just 124 pages—makes it an ideal quick yet immersive read. It’s well-paced, balancing swift plot developments without leaving the story feeling rushed or superficial. This ensures the fantasy universe feels fleshed out and compelling, which is promising for future installments or explorations within the same world. E.C. Gregory’s work stands out for seamlessly merging gothic aesthetics with romantic and fantastical themes, appealing to readers who appreciate layered narratives with a hint of supernatural lore. For those who enjoy reading short novellas with a strong, atmospheric vibe and characters who face compelling emotional and supernatural challenges, this release should not be missed. If you’re looking forward to new gothic romantasy novels or seeking fresh takes on the genre's typical motifs like dark altars, brides in mysterious rituals, and richly woven lore, marking your calendar for this June 9th release will reward you with a unique, enthralling reading experience.
