🥙 Melbourne: Queen Victoria Market - Must eats!!

Most famous market in Melbourne ✌🏻

You can find fresh produce, tea, coffee, nuts, honey, book shops, local handmade products, delis all at this market!!

OPEN AIR MARKET AREA:

📍The Mussel Pot

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

Tried the Steamed Chilli Coconut Cream - most popular flavor

Loved it! Tasted similar to laksa, mussels are fresh and juicy. We used the little shells to drink up the soup, it paired perfectly with the toasted bread. Note: Might be slightly salty for some people.

📍Market Lane Coffee

Did not get a cuppa but we bought beans from here as gifts for friends! Most of my friends recommended their beans and they were delicious.

AREA BEHIND THE FOOD HALL:

📍Mork Specialty Coffee

Rating: ⭐⭐/5

Tried their campfire hot chocolate

Marshmallow was perfectly charred, crispy on the outside and squishy on the inside

Personally not a fan of dark hot chocolate, did not find the drink very mindblowing or worth the hype.

Heard that their specialty / seasonal drinks are better

OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS I DID NOT TRY:

📍American Doughnut Kitchen - Jam Donuts [Heard mixed reviews about it. Some say it was bomb but others said it was a bit too sweet!]

📍Ripe - Cheese toastie

📍Publique Bakery

📍Kiki’s Crepes

📍Original Chai Co

... Read moreQueen Victoria Market is not just a marketplace but a vibrant hub full of flavors and local culture. If you’re planning a visit, don’t miss the opportunity to indulge in a variety of fresh produce and artisanal goods that represent Melbourne’s rich food scene. Beyond the highlighted dishes, several other stalls deserve a visit. For example, the American Doughnut Kitchen offers jam donuts that evoke nostalgia, though opinions vary on their sweetness, so they’re worth trying to decide for yourself. Ripe’s cheese toastie is a simple yet decadent option if you prefer savory treats. Bakers like Publique Bakery consistently deliver top-quality breads and pastries perfect for breakfast or a casual snack. Meanwhile, Kiki’s Crepes provides a sweet or savory crepe option to satisfy different palates, and Original Chai Co is a wonderful spot to try authentic chai beverages, ideal for chilly Melbourne days. One of the great things about Queen Victoria Market is the openness to BYO containers and the emphasis on sustainability, so remember to bring your reusable bags! If you’re seeking a warm drink, Mork Specialty Coffee’s campfire hot chocolate with its charred marshmallow is unique. However, if dark chocolate is not your favorite, you might want to try their seasonal specials, which locals recommend more highly. When visiting on a Wednesday night, the market transforms with evening stalls and live entertainment, creating a lively atmosphere perfect for food lovers and families alike. Overall, Queen Victoria Market offers a rich tapestry of tastes, perfect for both tourists and locals craving authentic Melbourne flavors. Don’t forget to explore beyond the food; the market also features local handmade products and bookshops, making your visit all the more rewarding.
