Am I the only one who deeply dislikes pencil heels? They're so uncomfortable and ugly and most of all they can cause some serious health issues. Now don't get me wrong I wear heels myself, blocks and wedges are my jam but I don't even go near pencil heels.
Maybe it has to do with the fact that I saw someone's pencil heel snap and break, and the woman fell and got seriously injured. But I have always found the look ugly. Like blocks and wedges look cute but pencil heels are so hideous. How does one even balance themselves? I've seen so many girls trip or get their feet injured solely because of pencil heels. And what's concerning to me is watching girls as young as 6 wearing pencil heels at functions. Why do we have such weird standards and trends?
I think at this point we all know that most women aren't taller than 5 foot 6 inches yet we still have this standard to look taller or have our legs look taller. And it's not just grown women, this standard is so ingrained that you'll see young girls in heels. So many women will spend their entire lives wearing heels which results in blisters and injuries for many. My mum's aunt had to get back surgery because wearing pencil heels all her life led to a serious back injury, the doctor's words, not mine so don't scold me😭
It's been scientifically proven that heels ruin posture and hurt feet and legs, pencil thin heels make it worse because the surface area of the shoe shrinks a lot. If you love pencil heels a lot then maybe don't wear the really high ones, go for a shorter length so it decreases the amount of damage. In my opinion pencil heels are straight-up ugly and it's time we ditch them for good but well I don't think everyone will agree with me on that. But please take care of your back and feet ladies, don't overdo the heels, let your body rest and heal.
