... Read moreWhen I first started designing Pixie Kumo, my original character (OC), I focused on blending elements of fantasy and the popular Kimetsu no Yaiba (KNY) art style to create something unique yet familiar. Developing an OC is always exciting because it allows you to experiment with different features, expressions, and colors until you find the perfect balance that resonates with your vision. One thing I learned while creating Pixie was the importance of sketching multiple drafts. At first, I wasn’t completely satisfied with the initial outline, so I kept refining the details like hairstyle, clothing, and facial expression. This trial and error helped me develop a character that feels lively and full of personality. I also found it helpful to look at existing KNY artwork as inspiration but avoided copying details directly. Instead, I adapted certain stylistic elements such as the expressive eyes and dynamic poses to fit Pixie’s personality as a playful, mysterious pixie-like character. Sharing my work in art communities like #knyart provided valuable feedback and motivation to improve. Overall, creating an OC like Pixie Kumo has enhanced my confidence in drawing and character design. I encourage fellow artists to embrace imperfections during their creative process since every drawing is a step toward improvement. Remember, art is a journey, and your OC can become a unique reflection of your imagination and style.
