... Read moreIf you're planning your next dinner outing and craving authentic Chinese cuisine near the Clarke Quay area, Tong Fu Ju is definitely worth trying. From my experience visiting this hidden gem at 50 Boat Quay, the atmosphere is casual yet inviting, perfect for both small groups and casual dining. What stood out most for me was the variety and authenticity of the menu. Whether you prefer grilled skewers, spicy Sichuan dishes, or fresh fish preparations, there’s something to satisfy every palate. I was especially impressed by the grilled live fish options with diverse sauces including chopped chili hot and spicy, tom yum, and fermented black bean. These flavors captured the essence of regional Chinese cooking styles wonderfully. For those who appreciate grilled items, Tong Fu Ju offers choices like lamb skewers, pork belly with enoki mushrooms, and even Taiwanese sausage. The prices are very reasonable, with skewers starting as low as $1.80, encouraging you to try multiple types to find your favorite. Vegetarian options are thoughtfully given attention as well, with dishes like mapo tofu and stir-fried eggplant presenting bold, genuine flavors without compromising on texture or taste. The tofu, in particular, is remarkable and deserves a special mention. Apart from the food, the staff were friendly and attentive, enhancing the overall dining experience. The restaurant is conveniently located near major MRT stations, making it a great spot for locals and tourists alike. If you love exploring authentic culinary flavors on a budget, especially seafood and grilled specialties, I highly recommend giving Tong Fu Ju a visit. It's one of those places where affordable pricing meets quality cooking, leaving you full and satisfied without breaking the bank.

Authentic Chongqing Wontons at Outram Park
A new authentic Chinese restaurant with good food and charming Chongqing-style decor. Tried a few dishes on my first visit — here’s my honest take: Chongqing Pork Buns — $7.8 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Small, chewy and saucy. Not your usual pork bun — soft with a lightly chewy bite. The filling isn’t a lot, but it’s
