Disney’s Port Orleans Resort - Riverside

I recently had the most enchanting stay at Disney's Port Orleans Riverside, and I absolutely have to share my experience! This resort truly transports you to the heart of Louisiana with its stunning architecture and lush landscapes. Walking around, you feel like you've stepped into a storybook, with grand mansions in Magnolia Bend and charming, rustic cottages in Alligator Bayou. It's so beautifully themed, making it perfect for both romantic getaways and family adventures. One of the things I loved most was simply exploring the grounds. The Sassagoula River gently winding through the resort adds so much tranquility. While the original article mentioned the delightful Horse Drawn Excursion, which is a definite must-do for a romantic evening or a unique family memory, there's so much more to discover! We rented bikes and cycled along the river paths, which was a fantastic way to see everything at our own pace. There are also fishing excursions and even a campfire on select nights, perfect for roasting marshmallows under the stars. Let's talk about the food! Disney's Port Orleans Riverside offers some fantastic dining options. Boatwright's Dining Hall serves up delicious Southern-inspired cuisine in a charming, rustic boat-building atmosphere – their fried chicken is seriously good! For a quicker bite, the Riverside Mill Food Court has a great variety of options that cater to everyone, from breakfast to dinner. And if you're looking for some evening entertainment, you absolutely cannot miss YeHaa Bob Jackson at River Roost – he's a Disney legend and his show is pure fun! The main pool, Ol' Man Island, is another highlight. It's a huge, themed pool with a waterslide, a kids' play area, and plenty of space to relax. Plus, there are several smaller, quieter pools tucked away throughout the resort if you're looking for a more peaceful swim. Getting around from Disney's Port Orleans Riverside is super convenient. Buses take you directly to all the theme parks and water parks. But my favorite mode of transport was the boat service to Disney Springs. It's such a relaxing and scenic ride, offering beautiful views along the Sassagoula River, and it drops you right in the heart of the action. Overall, if you're looking for a moderate resort with incredible theming, a relaxed atmosphere, and a touch of Southern hospitality, Disney's Port Orleans Riverside is an absolute gem. It blends comfort with immersive storytelling perfectly, making every moment of your Disney vacation feel extra special. I can't recommend it enough for anyone wanting to add a unique, charming touch to their Walt Disney World trip!
