Favourite way to travel from KL to Singapore

Recently we went back to SG for Mother’s Day celebration with our family!

We personally don’t enjoy the 1h grab ride from KL to KLIA, & also needing to arrive 2h before flights 🙈 so for us the ETS train + Shuttle Tebrau is our favourite (& also more wallet friendly) way to travel from KL to Singapore ☺️

... Read moreTraveling from Kuala Lumpur (KL) to Singapore can often be stressful and pricey, especially when relying on flights that require early airport arrival and time-consuming rides to KLIA. Based on my recent experience, combining the ETS train with the Shuttle Tebrau is an excellent alternative that balances comfort, convenience, and affordability. The journey starts with a short Grab ride to KL Sentral, significantly shorter than the usual 1-hour trip to KLIA. Arriving 15 minutes before departure is enough, reducing idle wait times. The ETS train itself is very comfortable with spacious luggage areas, reclining seats, and onboard amenities like a cafe, perfect for long 4.5-hour rides. Bringing along a neck pillow, earbuds, and a jacket helps with relaxation and catching some sleep on the way. Upon arrival at JB Sentral, the adjoining Shuttle Tebrau makes for a quick 5-minute train ride into Singapore's Woodlands Checkpoint, smoothing border crossing procedures. Booking tickets via the KITS app, KTMB’s integrated ticketing system, simplifies the process and ensures seamless connections. The key is to coordinate the train and shuttle timings carefully to avoid waiting. Cost-wise, this method is quite budget-friendly—for a return trip for two passengers, the total expense is approximately RM483.60 (SGD $156.73), which is far less than flight tickets plus associated transport costs. The ability to enjoy reliable phone connectivity during the journey allows for work or entertainment, making travel productive. Overall, this mode of travel offers a relaxed but efficient way to commute between KL and Singapore. For anyone who frequently travels across the border or wants to avoid airport hassles, the ETS and Shuttle Tebrau combo is worth considering. Don't forget to book in advance and prepare for the journey with some snacks and comfort items to enhance your experience.
