Meaner = "Developing and ENFORCING boundaries"

3/31 Edited to

... Read moreIn my personal experience, learning to develop and enforce boundaries has been a transformative journey. Often, people shy away from being perceived as "mean" because they fear confrontation or rejection. However, I have found that establishing clear boundaries is essential for self-respect and maintaining healthy relationships. When I began prioritizing my emotional and mental well-being, I realized that saying "no" or standing up for myself did not make me a bad person—instead, it earned me respect. For example, at work, setting limits on overtime helped me maintain a better work-life balance. In friendships, communicating my needs honestly prevented misunderstandings and resentment. Enforcing boundaries requires intention and consistency. It's important to clearly express your limits and reinforce them when necessary. This might feel uncomfortable at first, but over time it cultivates stronger, more authentic connections. Additionally, being "meaner" in this context can be seen as an act of self-healing, as suggested by phrases like "Healed me is meaner btw". This perspective encourages embracing assertiveness as a form of self-care rather than aggression. Remember, boundaries are not about controlling others but about honoring your own values and creating a respectful environment for everyone involved.
