Want to achieve this aquamarine?

My client and I have been struggling like literally S T R U G G L I N G to find the perfect aqua combo that will last and fade nicer. I am glad to say that I have finally cracked the code.

I used a 1:1 ratio of:

(fades quickly but fades nicer)Joico: Aqua

(last longer but fades more of a green) Pulpriot: Aquatic

Before lifting I used k18 professional molecular repair hair mist let it sit for 4 minutes then apply lightener(it helps protect the hair throughout the lifting process try it out and thank me later)

What other colors would you want to see?

It reminds me of tropical oceans and mermaids – truly magical. But getting it right, and keeping it looking vibrant, can feel like a real quest. The beautiful, long, healthy hair you see in the pictures definitely took some dedication! Beyond just the dye formula I shared, there are a few other things I learned along my journey to maintain that smooth texture and vibrant aquamarine color. First off, preparation is EVERYTHING. While K18 is a game-changer for protecting hair during lightening, don't forget about your hair's overall health before you even think about bleaching. I always recommend a deep conditioning treatment a week or so prior to your color session. Make sure your hair is clean and free of product buildup – a clarifying shampoo a few days before can help, but don't overdo it right before bleaching, as natural oils offer some protection. Another thing I've experimented with is understanding how different aquamarine shades turn out. Some lean more blue, while others have a stronger green undertone. The combo I found strikes a perfect balance, but if you're aiming for something more specific, you might adjust the ratio slightly or even consider adding a tiny drop of pure blue or green to your mix. The beauty of these direct dyes is how customizable they are! Now, for the longevity part – because what’s the point of gorgeous aquamarine hair if it fades in a week, right? I've picked up some essential maintenance tips: Wash with cold water: This is non-negotiable for me. Hot water opens up the hair cuticle and lets the color molecules escape. Cold water helps seal them in. Sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner: Sulfates are harsh and strip color. Invest in a good color-safe, sulfate-free set. I even like to use a color-depositing conditioner in a blue or teal shade between full dyes to keep the vibrancy boosted. Wash less frequently: The less you wash, the longer your color lasts. Dry shampoo is your best friend! Heat protection: If you use heat tools (straighteners, curling irons, blow dryers), always, always use a heat protectant. High heat can literally cook the color out of your hair. Sun protection: Just like your skin, your hair can fade in the sun. A hat or UV-protectant spray can help. Touch-ups: Direct dyes like Pulp Riot and Joico are fantastic because you can easily mix up a small batch and apply it to faded areas between salon visits. This helps maintain that consistent, vibrant aquamarine look without re-bleaching. It's all about treating your hair with love and giving it what it needs to hold onto that stunning aquamarine pigment. It might seem like a lot, but trust me, seeing that vibrant color reflecting in the light makes it all worth it. What are your favorite tips for keeping fantasy colors alive?
