How is the office plant doing better than my plant 🪴😩😭

6/16 Edited to

... Read moreFrom my experience taking care of indoor plants, I've realized that less can sometimes be more. Overwatering is a common issue among plant lovers—while it’s tempting to show your plant affection with frequent watering, this often leads to root rot and weak plants. The office plant story perfectly illustrates how neglect, ironically, can promote better growth when watering is done sparingly. Light is another crucial factor. Plants need appropriate lighting to photosynthesize properly. Many people don’t realize that office plants enjoy consistent, indirect bright light throughout the day, unlike plants placed in dim or overly cozy corners at home. Personal experience has taught me that moving a plant too often can stress it and delay growth. Stability is key—the roots and shoots need time to adapt. Additionally, I've noticed that some resilient species like pothos, snake plants, and ZZ plants naturally handle neglect better, which is why they’re popular in office settings. These plants tolerate pot-bound conditions and dry periods, unlike more sensitive species. This encourages stronger root development and overall health. Finally, fussing with misting or frequent repotting may sometimes do more harm than good. Unless you’re dealing with a humidity-loving species, spraying leaves isn’t necessary. Similarly, unless roots are outgrowing their space dramatically, many plants do perfectly fine snug in their pots. Overall, this highlights the importance of choosing the right species and creating a consistent care routine instead of over-managing plants. Using tools like Plant Flow or setting reminders for watering can help maintain this balance. I’ve found these practices not only keep my plants alive but also thriving without constant attention.

how to rescue a plant with root rot!
