Things everyone gets wrong with their pothos 😭😭
Don’t make these mistakes so your promos plant can survive and thrive 🌱🌿✨
Taking care of a pothos plant can seem straightforward, but there are many subtle points that make a big difference in how healthy and vibrant your plant grows. From my experience, one of the biggest misunderstandings is treating pothos as a low-maintenance plant that can survive in dark corners or on rigid watering schedules. While pothos tolerate low light, they truly flourish with bright, indirect sunlight. Moving my plant closer to a window completely transformed its leaf size and color. Watering is another area where many plant parents go wrong. Instead of watering on fixed days, checking the top two inches of soil moisture is key. Each season, pot size, and indoor humidity level changes how quickly the soil dries out—something I learned after overwatering caused early root rot in my pothos. Repotting quickly from the flimsy plastic nursery pots to one with proper drainage also makes a huge difference in preventing waterlogging. I used to mist my pothos frequently until I realized misting barely increases humidity and can cause fungal issues on leaves. A simple pebble tray filled with water near the plant significantly boosts humidity without causing harm. Lastly, wiping dust off the leaves every few weeks visibly improves the plant’s ability to absorb light and stay healthy. These small yet crucial maintenance steps not only rescued my pothos but helped it thrive, producing lush, vibrant foliage.
