Sulawesi Water Skink

Sulawesi Water Skink (Sulawesi Water Skink), with the scientific name Troidophorus baconi, also known as Sulawesi Water Skink or Sulawesi Crocodile Tail, is a type of semi-aquatic skink native to the island of Sulawesi, Indonesia.

Distinctive characteristics

Shaped like a small crocodile, with large scales and stiff like armor.

Strong tail like a boat rudder. Helps with swimming.

Size Adults are about 18-35 centimeters long.

Color Available in brown or reddish black

Head, wide and large, with a short snout, and a black or dark brown stripe across the eye.

The throat and jaws, often lighter in color than the body, may be cream or white.

Behavior and residence

Living near bodies of water such as streams and rivers, they are highly humid animals.

Semi-terrestrial, living mostly in or around freshwater bodies.

Food. Eat small invertebrate organisms and plants for food.

Habits, often in hiding, and perhaps shy.

It is sometimes called "Bacon skinks," after the biologist who discovered it.
