Stargate SG1 Palette!!
Hey everyone! As a huge Stargate SG1 fan, I've always been mesmerized by the iconic Stargate portal. You know, that incredible, swirling blue event horizon, the powerful sound of the chevrons locking, and the sheer mystery of what lies beyond! It's truly one of sci-fi's most unforgettable visuals. So, when I was brainstorming ideas for a new makeup palette, my mind immediately went to the gate. I thought, 'What if I could capture the essence of that incredible wormhole travel machine in a collection of colors?' Using Procreate, I started dissecting the portal's visual elements to translate them into wearable shades. First, there's that captivating event horizon. It's a deep, almost liquid electric blue, often with hints of darker, swirling indigo and lighter, almost shimmering aquamarine. For a makeup palette, this immediately suggested a range of intense blues – from matte navy for depth to shimmery cobalt for that signature watery ripple effect. Imagine a smoky eye with these shades, truly out of this world! Then, we have the sturdy, ancient metal of the gate itself. It’s a muted, industrial grey, often with subtle greenish or brownish undertones, and those intricate glyphs etched onto its surface. This calls for some fantastic metallic greys, perhaps even a silver or gunmetal shade with a slight shimmer to represent the glyphs catching the light. And we can't forget the chevrons! When they lock, they glow with a distinct, warm amber or fiery orange light. This would make for an amazing pop of color – maybe a vibrant matte orange or a golden-amber shimmer that could be used as an inner corner highlight or a bold liner. I played around with different color combinations in Procreate, trying to find the perfect balance. I even considered a deep, inky black to represent the void of space just before the wormhole fully forms, or a crisp white for the flash of light as a traveler steps through. The beauty of designing a palette this way is that you're not just picking random colors; you're telling a story, creating a narrative through makeup. It's so much fun to think about how these shades could be blended to create a dramatic, sci-fi inspired eye look, or even just a subtle nod to your favorite show. Beyond just the eye, imagine a subtle bronzer with a hint of warm grey, inspired by the dusty, alien planets often visited. Or even a lip gloss with a blue-silver sheen to mimic the event horizon's shimmer. The possibilities are endless when you let your imagination soar into the Stargate universe. This project really helped me appreciate the subtle beauty in the show's design, and I encourage any fellow fans who love makeup and art to try and create their own interpretation.
