Why I decided to do the big chop
Hello Lemon8 people!
So, I have been thinking for years of doing "the big chop". My hair is type 3a/3b a very fluffy curl pattern. For years I have debating doing the big chop but couldn't get over the biggest con.
1. Biggest con:
🚩 What if it doesn't look good?
Well, oh well. Am I right? It doesn't matter if it looks amazing. The benefits were not for looks, although I will say that it is very adorable. But, let me tell you all about the pros I've been experiencing in the first week.
2. All of the wonderful Pros:
💖 Healthy hair Journey
I have been very good with not using any heat on my curls for about 4/5 years, but I have done a decent amount of damage with bleaching and dying my hair. So, this gives me the chance to start a new.
💖Less time consuming
I now have more time in the mornings to focus on other things, such as breakfast, and a skincare routine.
💖 Saves money
Now we all love saving money, I know I do. But, I don't have to spend money on extra products, I'm saving on not buying hair ties as well.
💖 Keeps me cool for summer
No explanation needed, summer can be HOT 🥵 with thick curly hair.
⭐️Overall rating: 4/5: I will say this is fairly new experience for me. So, I cannot give it a 5/5#embracevulnerability #bigchopjourney #bigchop #hairjourney
The big chop is a transformative experience for many, especially those with textured hair. Cutting off damaged hair allows for healthier growth and can be liberating. This decision often signifies embracing change and can lead to a new hair care journey. As you reflect on your own hair health, consider factors such as hair type, lifestyle, and personal aesthetics. Consulting with a hairstylist can help you determine the best style post-chop. Additionally, focusing on a proper hair care routine, including hydration and nourishment, is vital for achieving the best results after the big chop. Many individuals report feeling empowered and confident after taking the plunge. It opens doors to new styling options while reducing time spent on maintenance. Remember, every hair journey is personal, and the most important aspect is to embrace who you are, whether with long flowing locks or a fresh short cut. Celebrate your unique curls and enjoy the journey ahead! Engaging with communities online, like those found in hashtag movements such as #bigchopjourney, can provide support and inspiration.
