The start of a Journey in Singapore

Hello everyone! I am an international student in Singapore. Everything here is totally new to me from food weather culture to language lifestyle. I have seen a lot of interesting things since I had arrived in Singapore at the end of July. But I don’t have friend here to share. So I plan to record the interesting things I see everyday in the Lemon8. Excited to discuss with you guys!

... Read moreMoving to a new country like Singapore brings a mix of excitement and challenges, especially for international students. The vibrant summer mood mentioned resonates with many newcomers eager to explore this multicultural city-state. Singapore’s tropical climate, with its warm temperatures and occasional showers, creates a distinctive environment that influences daily life and activities. Beyond the climate, Singapore is known for its rich cultural diversity featuring Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Western influences. This mix is reflected in its food, festivals, languages, and everyday interactions. Trying local foods such as Hainanese chicken rice, laksa, and chili crab can be a delightful adventure for someone discovering Singapore for the first time. Additionally, the city offers many green spaces and unique landmarks that help students unwind and feel connected to their surroundings. Living abroad can also be isolating without a local social circle. Documenting day-to-day experiences on platforms like Lemon8 not only helps record memories but also opens doors to meaningful connections with others sharing similar interests. Engaging in conversations about #MyFreeTime and #RealTalk provides a space where newcomers can exchange candid thoughts and support each other. Participating in community discussions and exploring local groups may also help ease the transition, making Singapore feel more like home. As the journey unfolds, embracing all facets of life here—from language nuances to weather shifts and cultural celebrations—offers personal growth and a deeper appreciation for diversity. For new arrivals looking to adapt, taking time to observe, ask questions, and try new things during the sunny days and beyond can transform an unfamiliar place into a second home.
