📝 Synopsis
The story begins when "Tocco," a large, bear-shaped homeless man who has lost his memory and lives day by day at Seoul Railway Station, accidentally packs the wallet of "Mrs. Yom," an elderly woman, a former teacher and owner of the convenience store "All Ways" (Always) in the Chong neighborhood. With Tocco's honesty, Mr. Yom rewards him by raising rice and persuading him to work as a late-night shift partway worker.
Although Tocco was frightening, slow, and stammering to the point of not being able to do his service, he became very observant, attentive, and an excellent listener. Tocco came to experience and recognize the stories of the employees and customers who frequented the store, whether it was a teenager looking for a dream, a tired office worker, or a family leader who was under pressure. Tocco gave him naive but sincere advice along with food and drink in the store that healed the minds of those people. At the same time, the warmth he brought back to other people's lives slowly restored his lost memories and identities.

It's a true story. The atmosphere is as warm as drinking hot tea on a tired day. I read it and feel more encouraged and positive.
The problem of characters entering the store is actually an ordinary life problem that we may all have encountered, work, family or dreams, which makes it difficult for us to connect ourselves to the story and support each character.
The most controversial thing is that this convenience store may not have much to choose from and is most "inconvenient"! It is a safe, comfortable, and ready-to-fuel space for people who are really lost.
💡 Things learned after reading
Tocco is a clear reflection that we cannot judge anyone by appearance, status or social status, a homeless man who looks unattractive, has a more beautiful and profound mind than many.
Sometimes when a person is in trouble, we may not need loving advice, but just need someone who is prepared to listen intently and not judge. This small safe space is enough to heal the traumatic mind.
Every human being can always start over and transcend a false past if given the opportunity and trust of someone, like Mrs. Yom sees the good and gives Tocco the opportunity.
Finally, this novel reminds us of the importance of small friendships around us. Talking about redemption, paying attention, or small kindness can make a big change and help impregnate someone's bad day.
