Simple and quick dinner!
Ingredients:
1 box of pasta (I like ziti)
1 jar pasta sauce
1 bag shredded mozzarella (I do the one that has 4 cups)
How to:
Dump dry pasta in a casserole dish (I think 9x13 is what I used)
Pour the pasta sauce over the dry pasta.
Fill the empty pasta jar with water and pour over the pasta and the sauce in the casserole dish.
Mix it around and push down any pasta that’s sticking up.
Cover with tinfoil and bake at 375 for 45 minutes. When you’re at 35-40 minutes, take out, uncover and sprinkle the cheese over the entire dish. Do not cover and put in for remainder of time! #quickdinner #dinnerideas #easydinnerideas #dumpandgodinner #fastmeal
Okay, so you've seen my super simple 3-ingredient dump-and-go pasta dish, and let me tell you, it's a total game-changer for those busy weeknights! But I've got a few more tips and tricks up my sleeve to make sure your dry pasta cooks perfectly in that jar sauce every single time, plus some ideas to switch things up without adding much extra effort. This is all about making your dinner routine easier and tastier. The real magic of this recipe, and what often surprises people, is cooking dry pasta directly in the sauce. Forget pre-boiling! The pasta absorbs all the delicious flavors from the sauce and the added water, resulting in a tender, flavorful dish. The key here is ensuring enough liquid. That trick of filling the empty pasta jar with water isn't just for measuring; it ensures the pasta has enough moisture to cook through without drying out. Make sure all your dry pasta is submerged in the liquid before baking. If a few pieces are sticking up, gently push them down with a spoon to ensure even cooking. While I love ziti for this recipe, you're not limited to just one type of dry pasta! Penne, rigatoni, or even rotini can work wonderfully. The trick is to pick a medium-sized pasta shape that can absorb liquid well and hold up during baking. Just make sure to adjust the baking time slightly if your chosen pasta is thicker or thinner than ziti. And speaking of ingredients, the quality of your jarred pasta sauce can make a big difference. I always recommend picking one you genuinely love the taste of, as it's one of your main flavor components. For those who want a tiny bit more oomph without really adding another ingredient, a pinch of Italian seasoning or garlic powder stirred into the sauce can really elevate the flavors before baking. Now, let's talk about the cheese! My go-to is always shredded Mozzarella because it melts beautifully and gets that perfect golden-brown crust we all crave. It’s what truly makes this dish feel comforting and complete. However, feel free to experiment with other cheeses. A blend of mozzarella and provolone, or even a sprinkle of parmesan on top during the last few minutes, can add a different cheesy dimension. Just make sure to add it towards the end of the baking cycle, after removing the foil, so it gets nice and bubbly without burning. For those nights when you want to expand beyond three ingredients but still keep it 'dump and go,' here are a couple of super simple variations: Add a Protein: Stir in some pre-cooked ground beef, turkey, or even shredded rotisserie chicken with the sauce and pasta. It adds substance and makes it a heartier meal. Sneak in Veggies: A bag of frozen spinach (no need to thaw!), diced bell peppers, or chopped onions can be mixed in directly with the sauce. They cook right alongside the pasta, adding nutrients and flavor without extra prep. Finally, to make this an even more complete dinner, I often serve it with a simple side salad and some quick garlic bread. It rounds out the meal beautifully and still keeps the overall effort minimal. This 3-ingredient baked pasta truly is a lifesaver for busy weeknights, offering maximum flavor with minimum fuss. Enjoy your delicious, easy dinner!
Would add italian sausage and green peppers. Also try beef broth instead of water. gives it a great flavor.
