Hundo
Hey fellow trainers! Have you ever heard the term 'Hundo' in Pokémon Go and wondered what it actually means? Well, I recently had the incredible luck of catching my very own Hundo Pikachu (CP402, no less!), and let me tell you, it's a game-changer! I wanted to share my experience and break down exactly what a Hundo is and, more importantly, how you can try to get one for yourself. What Exactly is a Hundo in Pokémon Go? In Pokémon Go, a 'Hundo' is slang for a Pokémon with perfect Individual Values, or IVs. Every Pokémon has three IV stats: Attack, Defense, and Stamina (which affects HP). These IVs range from 0 to 15 for each stat. A Hundo means all three of these stats are at their maximum of 15. So, a 15/15/15 Pokémon is a Hundo, giving it 100% IVs. This makes them the strongest possible version of that specific Pokémon, maximizing its potential for battles in Gyms, Raids, and Trainer Battles. While CP (Combat Power) gives you a general idea of a Pokémon's strength, IVs determine its hidden potential. Why Are Hundos So Special? Catching a Hundo is rare and exciting! For competitive players, Hundos are crucial as they offer the highest possible stats, which can make a significant difference in close battles. Powering up a Hundo with Stardust and Pikachu Candy (or any other Pokémon's candy) ensures you're investing in a Pokémon with peak performance. Imagine maxing out a Hundo legendary – it’s a true powerhouse! Plus, there’s a huge sense of accomplishment and bragging rights that comes with having a perfect Pokémon in your collection, like my Pikachu caught around Newton, IA. How to Increase Your Chances of Getting a Hundo While getting a Hundo often feels like pure luck, there are several strategies and methods that can significantly boost your chances. It's not just about randomly catching Pokémon; it’s about smart play! Trades with Friends: This is one of the most exciting ways! When you trade Pokémon with a friend, their IVs are re-rolled. If you become Best Friends, there's a chance your trade can become a 'Lucky Trade', guaranteeing higher IVs (a minimum of 12/12/12) and reducing the Stardust cost for powering up. While not a guaranteed Hundo, the increased IV floor certainly helps! Field Research Tasks: Many Field Research tasks offer Pokémon encounters as rewards. These Pokémon consistently have an IV floor of 10/10/10, meaning they're guaranteed to be at least 67% perfect. This drastically increases your odds compared to wild catches. Always check your daily Field Research from PokéStops! Raid Battles and Eggs: Similar to research encounters, Pokémon hatched from eggs and caught after Raid Battles also have an IV floor of 10/10/10. This makes raiding and egg hatching excellent ways to hunt for high-IV Pokémon. Don't forget, you can participate in Raids with friends or remotely. Weather Boosted Wild Catches: Pokémon caught in the wild that are boosted by the current in-game weather (e.g., Electric types like Pikachu are boosted in rainy weather) also have a higher IV floor of 4/4/4. While not as high as research or raids, it's still better than completely random wild Pokémon. Keep an eye on your local weather! Special Events: Keep an eye on in-game 'EVENTS'! Niantic often holds events like Community Days or special research events where certain Pokémon appear more frequently. Increased encounter rates mean more chances to check IVs. Sometimes, specific events might even have higher IV rates for particular Pokémon. Purifying Shadow Pokémon: When you rescue a Shadow Pokémon from Team Rocket and purify it, its IVs each increase by 2 points. If you catch a Shadow Pokémon with IVs of 13/13/13, purifying it will turn it into a perfect 15/15/15 Hundo! This requires careful IV checking of captured Shadow Pokémon. My Personal Hundo Hunting Tips Based on my experience, especially with my Hundo Pikachu, here are a few things I recommend: IV Checking: Use an in-game appraisal system regularly. It's a quick way to see if your Pokémon are 'wonder' (high IVs) or 'not great'. Many third-party apps can also help you quickly check exact IVs, though always be mindful of Niantic's terms of service. Consistency is Key: The more Pokémon you catch, trade, hatch, and battle, the more opportunities you create for a Hundo to appear. Focus on Specific Pokémon: If you're hunting a Hundo for a particular species, target its spawns during events, look for its research tasks, or try to get it from raids or eggs. Catching a Hundo is a thrilling part of the Pokémon Go journey. It takes patience and a bit of luck, but by using these strategies, you'll definitely improve your odds. Happy hunting, trainers!
