Will this have evolving skies?!
The thrill of hunting for Evolving Skies booster packs is something every Pokémon TCG collector knows all too well! It’s become legendary for its stunning alternate art cards, particularly the coveted Umbreon VMAX, making it one of the most sought-after sets in recent memory. But the big question many of us ask when we pick up new sealed products, like a shiny Zapdos Tyranitar V tin, is: will it contain those elusive Evolving Skies packs? From my own experience and what I've learned from the Pokémon community, finding Evolving Skies in newly released or even slightly older standard Pokémon V tins is incredibly rare, almost to the point of being an urban legend for current stock. Here's why: Evolving Skies was released in August 2021. Pokémon TCG sets cycle relatively quickly, and booster packs included in products like V tins, collection boxes, or other special sets are usually from more recent expansions or a selection of sets that were actively in print around the time the tin was manufactured. Once a set goes out of print, like Evolving Skies largely has, its booster packs stop being included in new product distributions. Most V tins, including a Zapdos Tyranitar V tin, typically contain a mix of four booster packs. These often include the flagship set from the current release era, plus a couple of other recent sets. For example, a tin from late 2021 or early 2022 might have included packs from sets like Fusion Strike, Brilliant Stars, or Astral Radiance. While it's not impossible that a very specific, older print run of a Zapdos or Tyranitar V tin could have contained an Evolving Skies pack when it was current, the chances of finding one now, especially in a tin you might buy off the shelf today, are extremely slim. So, if you're specifically chasing Evolving Skies, what's the best strategy? My advice, based on countless hours scouring for packs myself, is to focus your hunt on the secondary market. This means looking at reputable card shops that specialize in older sealed product, trusted online marketplaces, or even local trading groups. Sometimes you can find older sealed boxes, blister packs, or even individual Evolving Skies booster packs from collectors who are offloading parts of their stash. Be cautious of inflated prices and always check for signs of tampering if buying loose packs. Even if your Zapdos Tyranitar V tin doesn't yield Evolving Skies, don't lose heart! Opening any Pokémon booster packs is an exciting experience. You could still pull amazing cards from other sets, discover new Pokémon, or find cards that are valuable for gameplay. Every tin is an adventure, and you might just find a different rare card or a new favorite to add to your collection. The hunt is part of the fun, and sometimes, the unexpected pulls are the most memorable!
