Physical Therapy Is Intense
Bleh....only one class this week cause of the holiday and I missed my Sunday classes cause depression in winter sucks. Guess I'll be doing more of my physical therapy exercises this week lol.
Winter can be a challenging time to stay consistent with physical therapy, especially when seasonal depression lowers motivation. It's common to miss scheduled classes during holiday weeks, but compensating with extra exercises at home can help maintain progress. Staying active even with a limited routine can prevent muscle stiffness and support recovery goals. Many physical therapy clinics use motivational reminders, like humorous notes on office cupboards saying things like "YOUR PHONE! I WILL LOOK FOR YOU I WILL FIND YOU AND I WILL MAKE YOU DO YOUR EXERCISES" to encourage patients to stay disciplined. Incorporating fresh positions or stretches into your exercise routine can keep the therapy engaging and effective. If you're struggling with the winter blues, consider setting small achievable goals such as completing a certain number of stretches daily or trying new stretches recommended by your therapist. Tracking your progress in a journal or app can provide a visual reward and boost morale. Remember, physical therapy is designed to be intense at times to rebuild strength and flexibility, but listening to your body to avoid injury is crucial. Support from healthcare providers or loved ones can also be invaluable in maintaining motivation during tougher times. By adapting your therapy routine and embracing motivational tools, you can successfully navigate the challenges winter brings and maintain steady improvement on your recovery journey.
