You call this healthcare?

Let’s talk about weight loss—specifically, how impossible it feels when your own body fights against you.

For years, I’ve done my best. I ate what I was supposed to (mostly), exercised like I was told, and celebrated every small victory. But no matter how hard I tried, my progress would stall—or worse, reverse. So, I did what everyone says to do: I tried harder. Still, nothing.

Finally, I said screw the stigma and went to my doctor. Turns out, I have yet another underlying condition making weight loss nearly impossible. There’s a medication that could actually help fix the issue… but my insurance won’t cover it. Why? Because I’m not diabetic. Instead, they’ll cover a riskier, less effective alternative that doesn’t actually treat the problem. Make it make sense.

How is this fair? How many people are struggling with medical conditions that make weight loss harder than it already is—only to be gaslit by doctors who tell them to “just eat less and move more”?

I’m sharing this because if even one person reads this and realizes they’re not alone in the struggle, then putting my frustration out there is worth it. The system is broken, and we deserve better.
