It has been a while since I did anything like this but a throwback! I turned my gouache painting into an augmented reality effect and showed my guests (i thibk they liked it?). I think I will start making these again soon!
Augmented reality (AR) offers exciting new ways to engage with traditional art forms, and turning a gouache painting into an interactive AR experience is a perfect example. From my own experiments, I’ve found that integrating physical art with digital enhancements can captivate audiences in a unique way, especially during social gatherings like dinner parties. With AR, you can add layers of animation, sound, or information that bring your paintings to life beyond the canvas. For instance, using platforms like Spark AR or Adobe Aero, artists can design effects that trigger when guests view the artwork through their smartphones. This creates an immersive interaction that not only highlights the visual beauty but also tells a story or evokes deeper emotions. Hosting a dinner party in NYC and sharing my augmented gouache painting was a memorable experience. Guests were intrigued watching the traditional art transform into dynamic visuals, blending craftsmanship with innovation. It’s encouraging to see how AR can turn static art into a communal experience, sparking conversations and inspiring creativity. If you’re a product designer, artist, or simply curious about AR, trying this combination can expand your creative toolkit. Start small by digitizing your paintings and experimenting with simple AR effects. Over time, you can develop more complex designs, perhaps even adding soundscapes or interactive elements that respond to viewers' actions. The possibilities with augmented reality in art are vast, and this approach is perfect for anyone looking to bridge classic techniques with new technology. I’m excited to continue exploring this and encourage other artists to dive into AR to enhance their artwork's impact and reach.
