New York Cafe at Budapest! - Worth the hype? ✨

I went Budapest last year and one of the first places we decided to checkout was the hyped New York Cafe.
I had made sure to make the online reservations even before my Europe trip as I heard the queue can be insanely long. We decided to book a slot for dinner on our first evening there.
Upon reaching, indeed the cafe was packed and many people were taking photographs in different corners of the cafe. Thankfully we didn’t have to queue or wait for a long time as we had made the reservations. We ordered 2 mains, 1 side and 2 drinks - some chocolate drinks etc.
The food was actually great and waiting time was reasonable. Vibes I’d say it’s a 9 out 10, the cafe was really really pretty. Price wise we paid about SGD 100+ in total which is on the pricier side - but given this was one of the popular places + food was decent + good vibes I think it ’s worth checking out this place. For someone that doesn’t like overhyped places I actually loved this cafe.
✨Recommend?: I think it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re in Budapest, just make sure to make your reservations in advanced!!

Making reservations in advance is crucial, especially for dinner, as the cafe tends to get very crowded with both locals and tourists eager to experience its renowned charm. Without a reservation, wait times can be long, so securing a spot online beforehand is highly recommended. When it comes to the menu, the chocolate drinks stood out as a personal favorite; they were rich and decadent, great for warming up during cooler evenings. The mains were satisfying and well-prepared, with a nice balance between traditional Hungarian flavors and more contemporary offerings. Portions were generous, making the pricier bill feel justified. The vibrant atmosphere adds to the overall experience. Many guests, myself included, enjoyed strolling around to take photos of the stunning corners, which are like living pieces of art. Despite the crowd and buzz, the service was attentive, which helped keep the dining experience relaxed. Overall, the New York Cafe lives up to much of its hype, especially if you prioritize ambiance and a memorable setting along with good food. It’s an excellent spot for travelers who appreciate history combined with a lively dining experience. Just remember, reservations are your best friend here to avoid the hectic queues and to make the most of your visit to this Budapest gem.
