私も家庭菜園で余った苗を庭に置いて、自由に持っていってもらう経験があります。最初は誰も持っていかないのではと心配していましたが、実際には通りかかった近所の子どもや散歩中の方が興味を持って声をかけてくれて、苗を楽しそうに受け取ってくれました。トマトやミニかぼちゃの苗は人気があり、子どもたちが自分で育てる楽しさを感じられるので特に喜ばれました。一方で、ルバーブのようにあまり知られていない苗は敬遠されることもありますが、その分、育てる人が増えてくると地域内での新しい食文化の広がりにもつながるかもしれません。苗を庭先に置くときは、ビニール袋や簡単な育て方のメモを添えておくと、初めての方にも親切です。また、通学路沿いや人のよく通る場所に置くのもポイントで、気軽に手に取ってもらえやすくなります。私自身も苗を譲り合うことで、ご近所さんとの会話が増え、コミュニティの輪が広がりました。特に最近は物価高騰もあって、身近な家庭菜園からの恵みを分け合うことの価値が高まっていると感じます。このように余り苗を活用して庭先で気軽に譲り合う取り組みは、植物を通じて地域のつながりを育む素敵な方法です。興味がある方はぜひチャレンジしてみてください。苗を大切に育ててもらえる場所ができると嬉しいですね。
