Amaaaaazing Dolphin rescue!

@nicoleisaacs truly the most insane ocean encounter of my life- and I’ve had a lot of unforgettable, magical encounters and moments in the water.
@jademaria_r and I took a boat out for the day and we never imagined we would have an experience like this. Dolphins are the most incredible creatures and their intelligence blows my mind. She literally came to us and asked for help- she knew what we were trying to do, and fully cooperated with us. A wild dolphin… and the rest of the pod watched, waited and celebrated with us when the remoras were off- truly unreal.
I was 7 weeks pregnant when this happened which even made this more amazing- being surrounded by so many wild dolphins and experiencing this pregnant was once in a lifetime. ✨
Disclaimer: as the ocean guide that day, I trusted my instincts on this one. Our local captain said the fish needed to be removed as it was eating at her wounds and causing pain. I don’t encourage touching wild animals, but at times I do think it’s necessary and circumstantial based. I believe what I did was the right decision, and based on the dolphins behavior, as well as the entire inter-species pod, (hundreds of them I may add), they all seemed to celebrate. Sometimes science and “whatever you’re taught in school classrooms”don’t apply in the wild- and you have to follow your gut (soul). It would not have sat right with me to just drive away when the dolphin came up to the boat like that. No regrets this day, and I stand by my decision wholeheartedly.
Will never forget this day on the water- it just makes me want to dedicate my life to help all the injured and suffering animals in this world 🤍🙏🏽

Being surrounded by a whole pod that seemed to understand and celebrate the rescue underscores the deep social bonds dolphins share—not just within their species but potentially across different species as well. Witnessing such a cooperative moment evokes a strong sense of connection to the ocean ecosystem. For anyone passionate about marine life, this kind of encounter is a powerful reminder of our role as stewards of the environment. Protecting injured and vulnerable creatures requires ongoing dedication, but these moments of successful rescue are both humbling and motivating. They inspire many of us to advocate more vigorously for ocean conservation and wildlife rescue, ensuring that these spectacular creatures receive the care and respect they deserve.
