Initiation
Initiation doesn’t ask permission.
It arrives through the events that change you.
Ancient cultures understood this and created containers for it.
Modern life does not.
So women experience initiation alone —
naming it anxiety, burnout, or breaking.
But the body knows when a threshold has been crossed.
If life has rearranged you without explanation, nothing has gone wrong.
You’ve entered a passage.
The Mother Flame doesn’t create initiations.
She guides you through the ones that already arrived.#threshold #nervoussystem #life #passage #women
The experience of initiation often feels overwhelming because it disrupts our sense of normalcy without warning. From my own journey, I’ve realized that initiation is less about conscious choice and more about surrendering to the changes life demands of us—whether that’s through major life events like birth, loss, or grief, or the subtle shifts within our nervous system. What stood out most in my experience was how the body often signals these transitions first—sometimes through anxiety, burnout, or a profound sense of disorientation—before the mind fully processes what’s happening. This disconnect can leave us feeling isolated, especially in modern life where traditional cultural rituals that used to support these rites of passage are largely absent. By paying attention to these somatic signals and naming them as part of an initiation rather than a breakdown, it becomes possible to move through the experience with more compassion and patience for oneself. Creating intentional spaces for reflection and ceremony, even privately, can help to honor the passage and integrate the transformation more smoothly. Understanding that initiation "doesn’t ask permission" and recognizing the body’s wisdom in opening first helped me embrace these moments rather than resist them. For others navigating this journey, it’s reassuring to know that crossing these thresholds is an intrinsic part of growth and that while the path may feel disorienting, it leads to renewal and a deeper connection with life’s purpose.
