Disorientation
Not everything you feel
is a problem to solve.
Some of it is a process
you’re interrupting.
Confusion. Fog. Disorientation.
These are not signs you’re failing.
They’re signs something is reorganizing.
But if you rush to fix it—
you cut the integration short.
Hold it. Name it. Let it complete.

Experiencing disorientation and confusion can feel unsettling, but it's important to recognize these sensations as a vital phase of personal growth rather than signs of failure. Drawing from personal experience, I've found that allowing myself to sit with the fog and name it as 'integration' helps ease the inner turmoil. This process aligns with how the nervous system needs time to reorganize after an initiation or a significant life change. The key is to resist the urge to immediately fix or rush through these feelings. Instead, holding space for them—acknowledging that the old self hasn't fully left and the new self is not entirely formed—creates a bridge where transformation can happen. This transitional fog indicates your brain and nervous system are recalibrating, which is essential for deeper healing. Moreover, understanding that this confusion is a common part of the initiation process reframes the experience into something expected and purposeful. Rather than being overwhelmed, I try to remind myself that this is a necessary pause, a time to integrate new ways of thinking and being. Incorporating mindfulness techniques, such as gentle breathing and grounding exercises, can support the nervous system during this time. These practices encourage patience and compassion toward oneself, facilitating smoother passage through the disorientation. Ultimately, embracing this phase as part of your personal evolution transforms the experience from frustrating to empowering. Recognize the power of naming the process and trusting your body’s innate healing capacity—disorientation is not a dead-end, but a doorway to becoming.
