What surfaces when everything is quiet…

6/29 Edited to

... Read moreAs a mother, I've found that the silence of the night often brings more than just peace—it uncovers the emotional weight carried throughout the day. During daylight hours, we juggle countless responsibilities: preparing meals, answering endless questions, solving problems, and meeting everyone's needs, usually without pause for ourselves. It's only when the house finally quiets down—when the dishes are done, toys tidied, and children asleep—that the emotions we've tucked away begin to speak. I remember nights when the feelings of overwhelm and loneliness seemed to flood in unexpectedly. That quiet space removed distractions, enabling me to notice my own anxiety and exhaustion more clearly. It felt like these emotions weren't new but had been building under the surface all day, hidden beneath the constant demand to be strong and present. What helped me was starting to ask myself simple but powerful questions, like "What have I been carrying since this morning?" and "Have I had a moment just for me today?" Sometimes, the answer wasn’t about finding more strength but about reaching out for support—whether it was asking a partner or friend for help or giving myself permission to rest. I also realized that self-care—like ensuring I ate enough, taking a few minutes to breathe, or having a meaningful conversation—made a significant difference in how I handled those heavy evenings. It’s important to remember that these moments are natural and that reaching out to loved ones or professionals isn’t a sign of failure but strength. Motherhood can mean carrying invisible burdens, especially in the quiet moments, but acknowledging and addressing them is vital. If nighttime feelings feel overwhelming frequently, consider seeking support. The silence at night doesn’t create these emotions; it simply provides space for them to surface, and by facing them, we gain resilience and hope.
