I love my siblings!
Starting a small baking business has been a dream come true, and honestly, the biggest surprise has been the incredible support system that has sprung up around me, especially from my family. And when I say family, I absolutely have to highlight my amazing little sister. She has Down Syndrome, and her zest for life and unwavering enthusiasm are truly contagious. People often wonder what it's like to have a disabled sibling, and my answer is always the same: it’s a journey of profound love, learning, and endless joy. She’s not just my sister; she’s one of my best friends and my most dedicated supporter. Our bond is truly something special, a constant source of comfort and laughter. From the moment I decided to turn my passion for baking delicious cakes into a business, she’s been right there, cheering me on. She takes her role as 'quality control' very seriously, eagerly tasting every new cake recipe. I've seen her meticulously help me organize my pantry, making sure the Swans Down flour and other ingredients are perfectly placed. Her favorite part, I think, is watching the mixer go, and then, of course, enjoying the finished product! There’s nothing quite like her beaming smile when she sees a fresh batch of treats, knowing she played a part in it. Those little moments of her 'supports your business' attitude are priceless to me. She’ll even greet customers at the door with a happy wave sometimes! Her support isn't just practical; it's profoundly emotional. There are days when the challenges of running a business feel overwhelming, but then I look at her, so full of life and unconditional love, and it puts everything into perspective. She reminds me to find joy in the process and to celebrate every small victory. She genuinely believes in me, and her belief is a powerful motivator. It’s like she’s constantly telling me, 'DOWIT!' (Do it!) with her infectious spirit, especially when I’m working on a new Cake order. While I'm not the oldest of five siblings, I understand the unique dynamics and deep bonds that form in a larger family setting. Every sibling plays a unique role, and my sister's contribution is truly invaluable. She teaches me patience, resilience, and the true meaning of acceptance. Her presence makes my life, and my business, so much richer. She helps me stay grounded and reminds me that success isn't just about sales, but about the love and connections we build along the way. This journey isn't just about baking delicious cakes; it's about building something with love and support, and she's a huge part of that foundation. Every cake I bake is infused with a little bit of her sweet spirit and unwavering encouragement. Having her by my side, supporting my business, makes every single day a little brighter and every challenge a little easier to face. It’s a testament to the power of family love and how everyone, regardless of their abilities, can contribute something truly wonderful.
