Hey everyone! I’m so excited to share more about my philosophy behind creating a mixed workout plan that actually works for me. When I first started on my fitness journey, I struggled to find a routine that balanced my goals of losing weight while also building and maintaining muscle. I found that just focusing on cardio left me feeling weak, and only lifting didn't give me the cardiovascular benefits I needed. That’s why I landed on this mixed workout schedule, featuring a blend of lifting, running, and walking. I've found that integrating different types of exercise throughout the week keeps things fresh and targets various aspects of my fitness. For instance, my weekly workout schedule deliberately includes lower body lifts, upper body lifting, and full body workouts to ensure all muscle groups get attention. This approach is fantastic for boosting metabolism and sculpting your physique. Combined with cardio, it's a powerful duo! Why a Mixed Workout Plan is a Game Changer: Holistic Fitness: You get the best of both worlds – strength from lifting and endurance from running and walking. This leads to a more well-rounded fitness level. Effective Weight Loss: Lifting helps build muscle, which burns more calories at rest, while cardio sessions (like guided runs or outdoor walks) are excellent for burning calories during the workout itself. Injury Prevention: Mixing it up reduces repetitive strain on specific muscles or joints, which can happen if you only stick to one type of exercise. Boosted Motivation: Variety is the spice of life, and it's definitely true for workouts! Having a diverse routine prevents boredom and keeps me excited for the next session. Making My Walking Workout Routine Work for Me: Walking is such an underrated exercise, and it plays a huge role in my walking workout routine. My schedule includes both incline walks and regular outdoor walks. Incline walking is a fantastic way to elevate your heart rate and engage your glutes and hamstrings without the high impact of running. I often do a 45-minute incline walk on days I lift lower body – it’s a great warm-up or cool-down. Outdoor walks, on the other hand, are perfect for active recovery days or simply to get some fresh air and clear my head. Even a brisk 2-mile walk after work makes a big difference! If you're thinking about creating your own my workout schedule, here are a few tips I've learned: Listen to Your Body: Some days you’ll feel stronger, others you might need more rest. Don't be afraid to adjust. My “rest days” often include light walking because I enjoy being active, but it’s important not to push too hard. Plan Ahead: Having my mixed workout plan written down, just like the desert landscape visual in my head, helps me stick to it. I know exactly what I’m doing each day, reducing decision fatigue. Progressive Overload: For lifting, gradually increase weights or reps. For cardio, try to go a bit further or faster over time. Small changes add up! Don't Forget Nutrition & Hydration: Your workout is only as good as the fuel you put into your body. Make sure you’re eating enough protein and staying hydrated. I truly believe that incorporating a mixed workout plan into your weekly routine is one of the best ways to achieve sustainable fitness goals. It's about finding what feels good and what you can stick with long-term. Stay consistent, celebrate small victories, and remember that every step counts towards a stronger, healthier you!
