BMA reveals WFH works 8.5% less car helps reduce PM2.5 dust during closed air
According to Bangkok spokesman Ekwuru Amrapal, Bangkok announced a request for cooperation with Network Parties and People Works from Home (WFH) on December 4, 2025. To help reduce traffic dust accumulation and reduce exhaust emissions, 370 Network Parties joined 211,841 employees. As a result, the average volume of cars on the road per hour decreased by 8.5%. It was seen that the measure significantly reduced particulate matter and reduced the accumulation of PM2.5 in the Bangkok area during closed weather.
"This figure is clear that when the number of cars on the road drops, even just 8-10%, the level of PM2.5 drops immediately. It is proof that everyone can help reduce dust most easily by reducing the use of cars on closed days. And we invite public and private agencies to join WFH to make this result happen. Bangkok is better because of us all," said a Bangkok spokesman.
For the WFH declaration criterion is that there must be a 2.5 dust value in the orange level (a 2.5 value ranging from 37.6 - 75.0 mg / m3). 35 or more districts (70% of Bangkok area), poor ventilation rate (VR) is less than 2,000 square meters per second and more than 80 heat points per day in a row for 3 days. The governor of Bangkok will announce cooperation, notification through SOCIAL MEDIA and applications to keep the public informed.
