ในฐานะคนไทยที่ติดตามข่าวสารเกี่ยวกับโรคติดต่อมาอย่างต่อเนื่อง ผมรู้สึกว่าสิ่งที่เราต้องเตรียมตัวไม่ใช่แค่การรักษาหรือการป้องกันโรคที่เรารู้จักดีเท่านั้น แต่ต้องเพิ่มความรู้ความเข้าใจในเรื่องโรคอุบัติใหม่ที่เกิดจากการเปลี่ยนแปลงสิ่งแวดล้อมและพฤติกรรมมนุษย์ เช่น การสัมผัสกับสัตว์ป่า หรือการเดินทางระหว่างประเทศที่เพิ่มขึ้น ประสบการณ์ส่วนตัวเมื่อช่วงที่มีการระบาดของไวรัสโคโรนา 2019 (COVID-19) ทำให้เห็นความสำคัญของการป้องกันตัวเอง โดยเฉพาะการใส่หน้ากากอนามัยและล้างมือบ่อย ๆ ซึ่งช่วยลดการแพร่ระบาดได้อย่างชัดเจน นอกจากนี้ ผมยังเห็นว่าการรับข้อมูลข่าวสารเกี่ยวกับโรคใหม่ ๆ อย่างไวรัสซิกาหรือไวรัสนิปาห์ มีส่วนช่วยให้ชุมชนและครอบครัวเราเฝ้าระวังและปรับพฤติกรรม เช่น หลีกเลี่ยงการอยู่ใกล้ชิดสัตว์ป่าหรือสัตว์นำโรค นอกจากนี้ผมยังชอบติดตามความเคลื่อนไหวของเชื้อดื้อยา เพราะมันเป็นภัยที่หลายคนไม่ค่อยสนใจ แต่ก็ส่งผลเสียต่อระบบสาธารณสุขอย่างมาก การใช้ยาฆ่าเชื้ออย่างผิดวิธีทำให้เชื้อโรคแข็งแรงและรักษายากขึ้น ซึ่งเราสามารถช่วยได้โดยการใช้ยาอย่างถูกต้องและไม่หยุดยากลางคัน จากประสบการณ์ ผมขอแนะนำให้เราทุกคนตระหนักถึง "โรคติดต่ออุบัติใหม่" เป็นภัยเงียบที่ควรใส่ใจไม่แพ้โรคเดิม ๆ เช่น ไข้เลือดออก เพราะโรคเหล่านี้มักนำมาซึ่งการเปลี่ยนแปลงวิถีชีวิตที่สำคัญ และอาจส่งผลลบต่อเศรษฐกิจและสังคมในวงกว้าง สุดท้ายนี้ อยากชวนทุกคนติดตามข่าวสารอย่างรอบด้าน รับฟังคำแนะนำจากหน่วยงานสาธารณสุข และปรับพฤติกรรมชีวิตประจำวันให้สอดคล้องกับสถานการณ์ เพื่อป้องกันตัวเองและคนที่เรารักจากโรคที่กำลังเกิดขึ้นใหม่ รวมถึงการรักษาสุขภาพให้แข็งแรง เพราะภูมิคุ้มกันที่ดีคือเกราะป้องกันที่ดีที่สุดในยุคของโรคติดต่อที่เปลี่ยนแปลงอย่างรวดเร็วนี้
