Read moreNavigating life after college can feel daunting, especially when juggling multiple financial responsibilities like student loans, credit card bills, and essential living expenses on a part-time income. I've been there—working hard to stretch every dollar while wondering how to build a fulfilling career that matches my degree. From my experience, the first step is getting a clear understanding of your finances by listing out your monthly income versus expenses. It helps to identify areas where you can cut back, even if it’s just small daily savings that add up. One strategy that worked for me is prioritizing high-interest debts first—mostly credit cards—because reducing these can free up more money over time. You might want to explore balance transfers or consolidation options too. For managing student loans, look into income-driven repayment plans that can lower your monthly payments temporarily while you stabilize financially. On the career front, it’s easy to feel stuck with a part-time job that pays $21/hr but doesn’t advance your goals. Don’t hesitate to network actively both online and offline. Sometimes opportunities arise from unexpected connections or volunteering experiences that build your resume. Also, consider enhancing your skills through affordable courses online, which can increase your chances of landing a full-time role. Lastly, maintaining a positive mindset is essential. Manifesting a career and praying for opportunities can be empowering, but pair that with actionable steps such as applying regularly and preparing well for interviews. Sharing your journey and seeking advice—as you’ve already started—can open doors to support and creative solutions. Life may not be perfect right now, but persistence, smart money habits, and focused career planning gradually make the struggle manageable.

well sit down write out what you pay, and then figure out how much you get paid. Pay the most important, rent, utilities, food, and then whats left pay a little here and a little there. the most important is roof over your head and food

Been there. Get an entry level job or admin job. You get exposed to different areas that might interest you and it can be a stepping stone. Try posting flyers to take care of animals or kids in your neighborhood. People always prefer neighbors. I heard depop is good for selling clothing online. Sell stuff on fb marketplace. First pay high interest debt like credit cards. Try to get an income based payment plan for student loans. Build an emergency fund second after paying off credit card debt. Slowly but surely you’ll be able to dig yourself out like I did. It was hard but applying to endless jobs like your life depends on it and not giving up is what kept me going. Now I’m a marketer who has her own place in SF. I could only afford mac cheese dinners when I graduated college.
