It has a bright red tail, a yellowish green or bluish green body.
Big head. Small neck.
It is a snake in a group of green snakes with eggs, found in Thailand particularly in the south, the Malayan Peninsula, and possibly Sumatra.
Red-tailed glass snakes are poisonous snakes, with the venom able to cause pain, swelling and necrotic flesh at the bite site. If bitten, a doctor should be seen immediately.

งูแก้วหางแดงเป็นงูเขียวหางไหม้ชนิดหนึ่งที่มีลักษณะโดดเด่นด้วยหางสีแดงสดและลำตัวสีเขียวอมเหลืองหรือน้ำเงิน ที่ผมเคยไปสัมผัสที่เขตรักษาพันธุ์สัตว์ป่าโตนงาช้าง จังหวัดสงขลา ต้องบอกว่าการรู้จักและเข้าใจงูชนิดนี้สำคัญมาก เนื่องจากงูแก้วหางแดงมีพิษที่สามารถทำให้เกิดปวดบวม และเนื้อตายบริเวณที่ถูกกัดหากไม่ได้รับการรักษาอย่างรวดเร็วและเหมาะสม ผมแนะนำให้ผู้ที่ไปเที่ยวป่าหรือทำกิจกรรมกลางแจ้งปฏิบัติตัวอย่างระมัดระวัง ไม่ควรจับหรือรบกวนงูโดยไม่จำเป็น และหากโชคร้ายถูกงูชนิดนี้กัดควรรีบไปพบแพทย์ทันทีเพื่อรับยาต้านพิษและการรักษาที่เหมาะสม นอกจากนี้ ควรสังเกตลักษณะของงูแก้วหางแดงเพื่อให้จำแนกได้อย่างถูกต้อง เช่น หางสีแดงสดและหัวที่ค่อนข้างโตพร้อมคอเล็ก การศึกษาและรู้จักสัตว์ในธรรมชาติอย่างงูแก้วหางแดงไม่เพียงแต่ช่วยให้เราอยู่ร่วมกับธรรมชาติได้อย่างปลอดภัย แต่ยังช่วยเสริมสร้างความตระหนักรู้และความรักในผืนป่าที่ควรอนุรักษ์ไว้อย่างยั่งยืนอีกด้วยครับ
