The pus frog (scientific name: Fejervarya limnocharis), also known as the flaunt, the back dash, which comes from the color on the body of the pus frog that has a large back dash across from the tip of the mouth to the bottom, but not all pus frogs always have a back dash like this, some may have small dashes, some may have large dashes, or some may have no dashes at all.
Nong frogs are common in Thailand, especially along lowland freshwater sources such as pus, marshes, koo, canals and rice fields.
The distinguishing feature is that the body is brown olive green with faint black spots scattered across the back and flanks, a grey belly, and under the chin a long black dash.

จากที่เคยสังเกตกบหนองในธรรมชาติ พบว่าขีดกลางหลังของกบนี้มีหลากหลายรูปแบบ บางตัวขีดชัดเจนเป็นเส้นขนาดใหญ่ บางตัวขีดเล็กหรือแทบไม่มีเส้นเลย ขึ้นอยู่กับลักษณะเฉพาะตัวและสภาพแวดล้อมที่มันอาศัยอยู่ กบหนองไม่เพียงแต่มีลักษณะสีสันและขีดขาวที่สวยงาม แต่ยังมีพฤติกรรมที่น่าสนใจ เช่น การซ่อนตัวในใบไม้แห้งหรือหญ้าแห้งที่มีสีคล้ายคลึงกับลำตัว ทำให้ยากต่อการถูกล่า เป็นการปรับตัวเพื่อความอยู่รอดในธรรมชาติ จุดเด่นอีกอย่างหนึ่งที่สังเกตได้ชัดคือตาดวงสีแดงเข้มของกบหนองที่ทำให้มันดูมีเสน่ห์และช่วยในการจำแนกสายพันธุ์กบในพื้นที่ของไทย นอกจากนี้ การพบกบหนองส่วนมากมักจะเจอในแหล่งน้ำจืดตามที่ราบลุ่ม เช่น หนอง น้ำในทุ่งนาหรือคูคลอง ซึ่งเป็นถิ่นที่อยู่อาศัยที่เหมาะสมสำหรับการดำรงชีวิตของกบชนิดนี้ จากประสบการณ์ส่วนตัว การไปเยี่ยมชมอุทยานแห่งชาติคลองลานที่กำแพงเพชร ทำให้ได้เห็นกบหนองในสภาพแวดล้อมตามธรรมชาติอย่างชัดเจนและใกล้ชิดมากขึ้น ภาพถ่ายระยะใกล้เผยให้เห็นลวดลายบนผิวหนังและขีดสีเขียวอ่อนที่พาดผ่านกลางหลัง ซึ่งเป็นลักษณะเฉพาะที่ทำให้จดจำง่าย หากใครสนใจธรรมชาติและสัตว์เลื้อยคลาน การศึกษาและสังเกตกบหนองในป่าธรรมชาติเป็นประสบการณ์ที่แนะนำอย่างยิ่ง
