อุทยานแห่งชาติภูพาน จังหวัดสกลนคร ถือเป็นหนึ่งในจุดชมพรรณไม้นามพระราชทานที่สำคัญของประเทศไทย โดยเฉพาะในช่วงฤดูหนาวที่ดอกไม้พระราชทานทั้ง 5 ชนิด ได้แก่ ดุสิตา, สร้อยสุวรรณา, มณีเทวา, ทิพเกสร และสรัสจันทร ต่างทยอยบานสวยงามบนลานดุสิตา สถานที่ซึ่งมีสภาพแวดล้อมที่เหมาะสมกับการเจริญเติบโตของพรรณไม้เหล่านี้ จากข้อมูลของอุทยานแห่งชาติภูพาน พรรณไม้แต่ละชนิดมีลักษณะเด่นเฉพาะ เช่น ดุสิตาและสร้อยสุวรรณาเป็นพืชกินแมลงขนาดเล็ก ที่พบอยู่บริเวณทุ่งหญ้าริมหนองน้ำและพื้นที่ชุ่มน้ำ ซึ่งนอกจากความสวยงามแล้ว พืชกินแมลงเหล่านี้ยังช่วยควบคุมแมลงในระบบนิเวศอีกด้วย ส่วนมณีเทวาพบตามลานหินชุ่มน้ำและชายป่าโปร่ง ขณะที่ทิพเกสรเจริญเติบโตได้ดีบริเวณลานหินทรายน้ำขังและพื้นที่โล่งชุ่มน้ำในช่วงเดือนสิงหาคมถึงธันวาคม ช่วงเวลาที่เหมาะสมกับการชมดอกไม้ทุกชนิดนี้คือตั้งแต่เดือนพฤศจิกายนถึงกุมภาพันธ์ โดยนักท่องเที่ยวสามารถเดินทางมาเที่ยวชมได้ทุกวันระหว่างเวลา 09.00-16.00 น. ซึ่งการเดินทางสะดวกด้วยรถยนต์ที่จะพาไปถึงลานจอดรถภายในอุทยาน จากนั้นเดินต่อเพียง 300 เมตรก็จะได้ชื่นชมความงดงามของดอกไม้ได้อย่างใกล้ชิด อุทยานแห่งชาติภูพานยังขอความร่วมมือให้นักท่องเที่ยวรักษาความสะอาดและสภาพธรรมชาติอย่างเคร่งครัด ได้แก่การไม่สัมผัสหรือเก็บดอกไม้ รวมทั้งการเดินชมเฉพาะเส้นทางที่กำหนด เพื่อปกป้องพรรณไม้นานาชนิดให้คงอยู่คู่ธรรมชาติอย่างยั่งยืนและเปิดโอกาสให้คนรุ่นหลังได้ชื่นชมด้วย นอกจากนี้ การเดินทางไปเยือนสถานที่ธรรมชาติเช่นนี้ควรเตรียมตัวให้พร้อม เช่น สวมใส่รองเท้าที่เหมาะสม เตรียมอุปกรณ์กันแดดและน้ำดื่มไปด้วย เพื่อให้การเที่ยวชมเป็นไปอย่างสะดวกและปลอดภัย ทั้งนี้สามารถติดตามข่าวสารและข้อมูลเพิ่มเติมจากกรมอุทยานแห่งชาติสัตว์ป่าและพันธุ์พืช รวมถึงอุทยานแห่งชาติภูพานเอง เพื่อให้ได้รับประสบการณ์ที่ดีที่สุด ด้วยความสวยงามของพรรณไม้นามพระราชทานที่โดดเด่นของอุทยานแห่งชาติภูพาน การไปเยือนในช่วงนี้จึงเป็นโอกาสดีสำหรับคนรักธรรมชาติและผู้ที่สนใจเรียนรู้พืชพันธุ์และระบบนิเวศของไทยอย่างแท้จริง
