🍂 The nest tree, the fiercest of the forest...Change beautiful color before deciduous
"Nest" tree, deciduous, up to 25 m high, very hard and thick gray tree bark with deep cracks, red inner bark out brown, light yellow to brown latex.
Leaves, size 10-22 x 7-16 cm, broad ovate or ovate, round or slightly pointed tip, heart-shaped base, light, brown-out-red leaves with star-shaped hairs, old, dull-green leaves almost smooth, lateral leaf lines 9-16 pairs, petioles 3-5 cm, small, slender and slightly flat with red staples, leaf ears 1.5-2 cm, narrowly ovate, curved and fall out quickly.
Blossoms, bright yellow, usually have red staples in groups of 5-20 blossoms. Blossoms usually leave before breaking young leaves. Petals twist in a horn-like spiral. Petal tips curve backwards. Petal bases are joined. When dislodged, they fall the whole layer along with the stamens attached to the petals. 15 stamens. 10 outer layers in 5 pieces. Pointed anthers. Female pollen stalks as long as ovaries.
The result has 3 large wings, obtuse tips, size 5-8 x 1-1.5 cm, small 2 wings, 2.5 x 1 cm, central result 1.4-1 .6 cm, with long tips.
Usually in groups, they are very resistant to wildfires, so they become the dominant plant in the degraded, easily observed in winter. Old leaves turn dark red before falling.

จากประสบการณ์ส่วนตัวในการเดินป่าในเขตป่าเต็งรัง ผมสังเกตเห็นว่าต้นรังเป็นไม้ที่มีความอดทนต่อสภาพแวดล้อมที่รุนแรงมาก โดยเฉพาะในช่วงฤดูแล้งหรือเกิดไฟป่า ตัวต้นและเปลือกมีความแข็งแรงพิเศษช่วยปกป้องภายในไม่ให้ถูกทำลายง่ายๆ ใบของต้นรังถือว่าน่าสนใจอย่างยิ่ง เพราะจะเปลี่ยนเป็นสีแดงเข้มก่อนที่จะร่วงหล่น ช่วงเวลานี้ทำให้เกิดความงดงามตามธรรมชาติที่แตกต่างจากต้นไม้ชนิดอื่นๆ ที่อยู่ในบริเวณเดียวกัน ใบที่มีขนรูปดาวในระยะใบอ่อนก็เป็นอีกหนึ่งจุดที่สังเกตได้ง่าย เวลาที่ดอกออกดอกสีเหลืองสดและมีแต้มสีแดง กลีบดอกบิดเป็นเกลียวคล้ายกับปากแตร ซึ่งเป็นลักษณะที่แปลกและสวยงามมาก นอกจากนี้ลักษณะผลที่มีปีกใหญ่ถึงสามปีกทำให้ผลสามารถลอยไปในอากาศได้ดี ช่วยในการกระจายพันธุ์ได้ไกล ต้นรังยังมีบทบาทที่สำคัญในระบบนิเวศของป่าเต็งรัง เพราะด้วยความทนทานต่อไฟป่าทำให้เป็นพืชเด่นในพื้นที่เสื่อมโทรมหลังไฟคุกคาม นอกจากนี้ยังเป็นที่อยู่อาศัยของสัตว์ป่าหลายชนิด และส่งเสริมการรักษาความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพในพื้นที่ ผมแนะนำให้ผู้ที่สนใจศึกษาธรรมชาติลองสังเกตต้นรังในช่วงฤดูหนาว เพราะสีของใบแก่ที่เปลี่ยนเป็นสีแดงเข้มก่อนร่วงนั้นเป็นภาพที่น่าประทับใจและหายาก ต้นรังจึงเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของความสวยงามและความแข็งแกร่งในธรรมชาติที่เราควรอนุรักษ์ไว้
