The bipolar of writers. 🙃✍️💓
We've been observing something about writers. 🖋️
Many are lovely, gentle and empathized, very good.
But in the meantime,
Many people are easily tired, easily stressed, or emotionally swinging more easily than they think.
At first we wondered
Or because every day a writer has to "use emotion" harder than the average person?
And then I read more about cognitive science and psychology.
Found out it might really be relevant.
Because when writing fiction
The brain doesn't just think about it.
But it is:
• Mock emotions
• Character role playing
• Retrieve memories
• Use empathy
• And activate emotional processing repeatedly
Especially when we:
- Write an argument scene.
- Write a loss scene.
- Write the trauma.
- Write heavy drama.
- Or very immersive with the characters.
The brain may not always separate that
What is "composed story"?
What is "the emotion that the body is actually taking?"
Combined with this era at:
• Everything is fast.
• Social media is constantly stimulating.
• There is pressure for work.
• Comparison
• Drama
• engagement
• productivity
So it's not strange that many people are "emotionally exhausted."
And how to make the heart not swing too easily?
The things that really help range from very small things, such as
☕ Reduce caffeine when stressed.
🥚 eat foods that help stabilize energy, such as protein, eggs, fish, nuts, bananas, unrefined rice.
💧 drink more water than you think, because the brain is very sensitive to dehydration.
😴 get enough sleep because the brain doesn't rest enough to regulate the mood.
Including "how to write" is also important.
Many writers wrote heavy scenes for hours in a row.
Without resting the emotional system at all.
Perhaps it would help if:
• Toggle to write light scenes
• Walk
• Look at the tree
• Music without meat
• Or leave the brain back to the real world.
And if something arouses strong emotions,
What helps calm down neuroscience is:
• Breathe longer than usual
• Use cold water to wash face / hold cold glass
• Walk fast for 5-10 minutes
• Print before answering
• Or just "postpone the answer."
Because of the high emotional brain time.
We often answer from survival systems.
Not from the most well-rounded part.
Finally,
We just want to tell all the writers that
Being a person feels deep.
It's not a weakness.
But don't forget to take care of your heart
Like we're trying to take care of the character heart, too. 🤍
