Trip to Cape May: June 1 - 5 2025
Places To Go
Cool places in Cape May we loved ✈️
📍Location: Cape May Lighthouse
Good Part: Climbing to the top gives you one of the best views of the shoreline and the surrounding nature preserve. It’s especially beautiful around sunset when the sky turns pink over the water.
Need To Note: There are about 199 steps to the top, so be ready for a bit of a climb.
📍Location: Washington Street Mall
Good Part: A charming pedestrian street filled with cute boutiques, ice cream spots, and cafés. Perfect for wandering, grabbing a sweet treat, and soaking in the classic Cape May vibe.
Need To Note: It gets busy in the afternoon during summer weekends, so mornings or evenings are more relaxed.
📍Location: Sunset Beach
Good Part: One of the best sunset views on the East Coast. You can watch the sun set over the Delaware Bay while looking for Cape May “diamond” quartz stones along the shore.
Need To Note: The beach is more rocky than sandy, so water shoes help.
During my recent trip to Cape May, I found that the combination of natural beauty and quaint local culture made it an unforgettable destination. One of my favorite experiences was climbing the Cape May Lighthouse. Although the 199 steps can be a bit challenging, reaching the top rewards you with panoramic views of the Atlantic shoreline and surrounding nature preserve that are truly breathtaking, especially at sunset when the sky is painted in soft pinks and oranges. Washington Street Mall offers a delightful way to spend an afternoon or evening. The pedestrian-only street is full of unique boutiques, inviting ice cream shops, and cozy cafés. I recommend visiting early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid the weekend crowds and really soak in the relaxed, nostalgic atmosphere that Cape May is known for. Sunset Beach quickly became my favorite spot to unwind after a day of exploring. The beach’s rocky texture is unique compared to typical sandy shores, so bringing water shoes is a must. Besides the scenic sunset views over Delaware Bay, I enjoyed searching for the famous Cape May "diamond" quartz stones—adding a bit of treasure hunting fun to the visit. Overall, Cape May’s blend of charming attractions and natural beauty makes it a perfect destination for a summer getaway.
