"Tintin" Witnessed Signed MOU Solving Liver Foliworm and Duct Cancer, Aiming for Liver Foliworm Disease-Free, Reducing Deaths from Duct Cancer

The Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Anin Chan Virgul, witnessed the signing of the MOU on the Partnership for the Problem of Liver Foliworm and Bile duct Cancer between the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Health, the Department of Administration, the Department for Local Government Promotion, the Institute for Public Health Systems Research and Khon Kaen University. The partnership is a combination of cooperation of all parts, making Thais healthy, well-off, safe from hepatocellular diseases, liver cancer and cholangiocarcinoma, with the Northeast area as a key target to address which liver cancer and cholangiocarcinoma are the leading causes of death. Thai people are infected with liver flukes. According to statistics, there are about 15,000-20,000 cases per year, up to 6,500 deaths per year, and there are currently no less than 6 million people infected with liver flukes that can develop into cholangiocarcinoma in the future. Therefore, this integration must bring about a tangible and effective success that is aimed at making Thailand free of liver flukes. It can reduce infection rates, increase early diagnosis of patients, and increase the number of survivors by creating knowledge, changing dietary habits, management.
