Eclipse, aka Golem, aka Burnt potato
#gettoknowme One thing about me, I like cats more than I do you
Okay, so let me tell you about my main man, Eclipse! He's not just any black cat; he's my very own 'Fat Golem,' sometimes affectionately called my 'Burnt Potato.' If you're anything like me, you probably love cats more than most things, and Eclipse is exactly why! He’s got this incredible personality that just shines, even when he’s doing absolutely nothing. Seriously, I've always said, one thing about me, I like cats more than I do you – and Eclipse is living proof of that sentiment! His 'golem' nickname came about partly because of his sturdy build – he’s a solid guy, not necessarily overweight, but he definitely has a commanding presence. He moves with a certain gravitas, especially when he’s stalking a dust bunny or making his way to his food bowl. And 'burnt potato'? Well, his sleek, dark black fur and tendency to curl up in a perfect, round ball, especially when snoozing in a sunbeam, just makes him look like a perfectly roasted spud! It’s truly an art form. I swear, sometimes I catch him lying on his back on the wooden floor, paws raised to the heavens like he's worshipping the ceiling fan, mouth slightly open in what I can only describe as pure, unadulterated bliss. He’ll often have his cute curled paws, totally relaxed. It’s moments like those, or when he’s batting at his favorite orange toy, that remind me why he’s the king of our castle. He’s usually sporting his favorite collar, looking all dapper, even when he’s just woken up from a deep nap. It’s hilarious how he can go from a sleepy lump to suddenly alert, ready for playtime or, more likely, snack time! Honestly, watching him is better than any reality TV show. I’ve seen him strike the most adorable positions, whether he’s soaking in the sun or expertly ignoring me for a good hour. His favorite spot is usually somewhere warm, like near a window or curled up on a soft blanket, perfectly embodying the lazy 'potato' vibe. People often ask what it’s like to have a 'golem' cat, and I always say it’s the best. He’s incredibly affectionate, on his own terms, of course. He’ll rub against my legs when he wants attention or food, and then promptly retreat for a nap. But that’s just part of his charm, isn’t it? He’s a creature of comfort and routine, and his little quirks make every day an adventure. He’s such a character, and getting to know his funny habits has been one of the best parts of my life. If you’re wondering how to get your own cat to be such a relaxed 'burnt potato,' I think it’s all about creating a cozy environment, lots of safe spaces, and showering them with endless love (and maybe a few extra treats for bribery, shhh!). He loves his scratching posts, chasing laser pointers, and napping. But his ultimate joy seems to be simply lounging and supervising his human. He’s truly mastered the art of relaxation and bringing immense comfort. So yeah, that’s Eclipse – my adorable, sometimes chunky, 'fat golem' who’s always ready for a nap and a good cuddle. He certainly fits the #gettoknowme vibe, because knowing him is truly knowing a piece of my heart!
